Sectional 1
Lakeland
I think the run that the T-Birds made last year was real, and if it wasn’t for a rough first half against Menomonie, they could’ve been in Green Bay last year. Lehigh commit Julianna Ouimette Julianna Ouimette 5'9" | CG Lakeland | 2023 State WI is one of the best wings in the state that can do anything with the ball in her hands. Younger sister Kristina Ouimette Kristina Ouimette 6'1" | PF Lakeland | 2025 State WI didn’t shoot the ball as well as she’s capable of last season, likely due to facing a triangle and two and whatever defense teams could throw at her. Saylor Timmerman Saylor Timmerman 6'0" | PF Lakeland | 2025 State WI also came on strong for the T-Birds in the postseason, especially against Mosinee. This team has been through the battles in the postseason and has played sectional-level teams for a while.
Sectional 2
Notre Dame
The Tritons get nearly everyone back from last season. The weakness is no clear five like this past season, but you can’t compete with their experience. They’re back-to-back defending D2 state champions and have a 58-2 record over the past two seasons. Although they’ll have to play differently, It’s hard to bet against the track record they have in the recent past. Gracie Grzesk Gracie Grzesk 6'0" | SF Green Bay Notre Dame | 2024 State WI , Trista Fayta Trista Fayta 5'8" | PG Green Bay Notre Dame | 2024 State WI , Sydney Whitehouse Sydney Whitehouse 5'9" | SF Green Bay Notre Dame | 2024 State WI , and Peyton Musial Peyton Musial 6'0" | SG Notre Dame | 2025 State WI have as many state titles as losses in high school.
Sectional 3
McFarland
Last year the Spartans had a thin rotation that got thinned out, even more, when point guard Brynn Kirch Brynn Kirch 5'6" | PG McFarland | 2024 State WI went down with an injury in the first half of the season. They also ran into a buzzsaw in Reedsburg in the regional title game, which may have been the highest-scoring game all season. However, this season the Spartans have an incoming class that might make them the deepest team in D2 this year. There is a chance this team can go anywhere from eight to ten players deep. McFarland is a group to watch early in the season to see how all the new pieces mesh together.
Sectional 4
Pius XI
I’m betting against the trend of the Popes losing in the sectional final three seasons in a row. For instance, Kailey Wozniak Kailey Wozniak 5'9" | CG Pius Xi Catholic | 2023 State WI has been on the team for three seasons, seen three sectional finals, and come away without winning a single one. I think this is the season they get over that hump. They have a team who can get up and down the floor and shoot the ball at a high level, along with the personnel for an elite defensive unit.
