On the West side of the Conference, Hartland is coming off a State Runner-up finish, and Howell was good enough last year to split with them. Brighton is a team that is good enough most years to finish in the top of any conference in the state but came in fourth place- thanks to a Cinderella season by Northville. It’s a tough league that should provide a lot of fireworks for the basketball enthusiast.
I had the chance to coach Mary two years ago at Reaching Higher. There were moments when she decided to take over that were mesmerizing. She is shifty and impossible to stop off the bounce; plus, she is deadly from deep. We should expect big things from Mary in her senior campaign.
Highlights
The junior post has had to wait her turn behind some very talented players, but this year should be her time to shine. She is very active on the boards and scores well in the post. She boasts nice touch on her shot and will erase a lot of shots this year. The wait is over.

Maya was left off the All Conference Team last year, which speaks to the depth of the league. She is a relentless rebounder and a strong athlete. This kid is a pleasure to watch as she just outworks everyone on the court. There is no way this kid can be left off the an all conference team this year.
Another KLAA junior that is disruptive and fun to watch is Madison Morson Madison Morson 5’8″ | SG Plymouth Salem | 2024 State MI . While she can put up a lot of points, Madison is best remembered for her defensive abilities, where is a wrecking ball in the passing lanes.
Here is another Hartland kid that has been waiting for her turn, and she should make the most of it by leading the conversation for League MVP honors. There isn’t much offensively that Liv doesn’t have in her arsenal. I loved watching her run the team this fall as she got her teammates involved and picked her times to dominate when the offense stagnated.
In order for Northville to build on last year’s storybook season, fellow seniors Eve and Susy Heller Susy Heller 5’8″ | SG Northville | 2023 State MI are going to have to continue what they started last year. Eve is the disruptive defender that seems to always have the right angle for the steal; Susy is the high confidence shooter that wants to take the big shot. This combo should be dynamic together.

Howell is losing last year’s star; thankfully, they have the next girls up in Sophie Daugard Sophie Daugard 5’7″ | SF Howell | 2023 State MI and Molly Deurloo Molly Deurloo 5’9″ | PG Howell | 2023 State MI . Last year, Sophie and Molly were known as a knock down three point specialist; however, both have showcased a well rounded game. Sophie gets into the lane through use of shot fakes and has the nice pull up, while Molly is more of the straight line slasher. Last year, the two combined for 24 points a game, but we should expect that to climb this year.
Anna Lindsey
Anna Lindsey
Anna is another kid that lives in passing lanes. One of the biggest things that sets Anna apart from the other kids on this list is what happens after the steal. Most players tend to put the ball on the deck after the steal and then make a decision later; Anna’s first look is always for the outlet pass to a teammate.
Meghan McCarthy
Meghan McCarthy
Plymouth has a do everything kid that will be asked to do a little more this year. Meghan has the ability to put up a lot of points, but she is a defensive kid at heart. She shots passing lanes well and is a disruptive defender. She is a very calm player that doesn’t try to do too much.
