PGH Dakotas wanted to return to the South Dakota 2023 class and break it down for our audience a little further. We may have an additional update to give the class some more attention.

Tier 1

At the top of the class and in their own tier is [player_tooltip player_id='154266' first='Reese' last='Ross'] and [player_tooltip player_id='100467' first='Hilary' last='Behrens']. Both long wing-type prospects, with Ross a little more athletic upside and Behrens being a slightly better outside shooter and threat. They are very close as prospects, with Ross off to Utah and Behrens staying in-state with SDSU.

Tier 2

[player_tooltip player_id='100478' first='Olivia' last='Kieffer'] - Olivia is a USD commit, that has had a storied career overall as a stat-stuffer and scorer. According to MAXPREPS, she currently has 1,822 career points with a 22.2 ppg. average.

[player_tooltip player_id='100472' first='Mallory' last='Miller'] - UNCOMMITTED - Mallory is the top-rated prospect in the 2023 class that is currently uncommitted. She's rated #4 and has received plenty of interest from college programs. Her combination of size at 6'4 and skills as a passer and shooter set her apart. She holds D1 offers from University of Missouri Kansas City and University of Omaha Nebraska, as well as D2 offers.

Tier 3

[player_tooltip player_id='100476' first='Kamryn' last='Wadsworth'] - Kamryn has been carrying Class A Hamlin on her back the past few years, always having them in contention to compete for a state title. She's a University of Sioux Falls commit and plays with power inside and can step back and hit shots when left open. One of the toughest prospects you'll come around.

[player_tooltip player_id='166683' first='Bergen' last='Reilly'] - Bergen was mentioned in the stock-risers article already and she falls into tier three. A D1 volleyball recruit that has athleticism that translates to the basketball court for state champion O'Gorman.

[player_tooltip player_id='100473' first='Brooklyn' last='Harpe'] - The University of Sioux Falls commit is now going to have every chance to prove herself in her Senior season. She will be relied heavily on as a scorer and playmaker for Washington to be successful.

[player_tooltip player_id='374315' first='Landree' last='Wilson'] - UNCOMMITTED - By my knowledge, Landree has transferred over to Sioux Valley High School for her final season. She will give her new team a huge boost. She scored 13 ppg. for Class AA Brookings, so expect her to continue her scoring success going down to class A.

Tier 4

[player_tooltip player_id='100468' first='Avery' last='Broughton'] - Avery is a tough one to rank because she's a D1 talent and USD commit but has dealt with a couple ACL injuries recently. So, she falls a few tiers until we see her back in action again.

[player_tooltip player_id='261381' first='Kira' last='Mentele'] - UNCOMMITTED - My intel tells me that Kira is a legitimate softball prospect as well as a top 10 basketball prospect in the state. Her main focus may be softball, but she could step on the hardwood at the collegiate basketball level as well, because of her 6'1 length and smooth movement and skills on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='100474' first='Gracie' last='Traphagen'] - Gracie has come a long way in her athletic ability and movement. She's a Northern State University commit recently and was also mentioned as a stock-riser. An all-around game, consisting of a combination of power and finesse.

[player_tooltip player_id='166689' first='Coral' last='Mason'] - UNCOMMITTED - Coral narrowly makes Tier 4. The state champion guard thoroughly impressed at the State B tournament and really opened up eyes and gained some attention as a top 2023 prospect in the state. A combo guard that can handle the ball from the point at 5'10 and can attack hard off the bounce from the perimeter. Plays fast with the ball in her hands and is an instant creator. A threat from all three levels as a scorer.

Tier 5

[player_tooltip player_id='100470' first='Cierra' last='Watkins'] - Cierra recently committed to a top-tier NAIA program in Dakota State University. A left-handed point guard that can control pace and is smooth with the ball. Had an outstanding state AA tournament and was legit on both ends of the ball. Applied heavy ball pressure on opposing point guards.

[player_tooltip player_id='100479' first='Jessy' last='VanDerWerff'] - UNCOMMITTED - I have yet to see any commitment news on Jessy, but she feels like a perfect fit for a top NAIA program, where she can be an impact player for. A great individual scorer and creator offensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='100481' first='Hannah' last='Harpe'] - Hannah, along with her sister is a University of Sioux Falls commit, and the sisters stay home for their college ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='100469' first='Emma' last='Yost'] - Respected program, Dakota Wesleyan received commitment from Emma this offseason. She's a key piece and leader for Class A powerhouse Wagner.

[player_tooltip player_id='100499' first='Zoey' last='Gerry'] - UNCOMMITTED - Zoey is a unique prospect at 6'0 that can do it all on the court. A skilled ball-handler that looks like a post prospect. A steady three-point shot and creator. A strong rebounder that secures the ball well. Can play all the positions offensively, and can defend on the perimeter adequately, using length to her advantage.

[player_tooltip player_id='342163' first='Shalayne' last='Nagel'] - DWU gets another Wagner commit in Nagel, who is a long guard/forward, with length and shooting ability.

[player_tooltip player_id='166652' first='Ellie' last='Lems'] - UNCOMMITTED - Ellie could potentially be bumped up a couple spots with her 6'0 guard frame. She'll have an opportunity to be an All-State player this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='246271' first='Jaida' last='Young'] - UNCOMMITTED - Jaida has been steadily improving into a stock-riser. A quick point guard that can prove to be a scoring guard as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='100475' first='Alexus' last='Motley'] - UNCOMMITTED - Per Twitter, Alexus suffered an injury, but that didn't stop schools from offering her scholarships for her talents. She is sought after for both track & field and basketball.
