Texas Top 250 Expo - Wings and Forwards

Check out my analysis from a LOADED Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo in Dallas this last weekend! These ladies were on FIRE and some are really going to make some noise during their upcoming senior campaign!   [player_tooltip player_id='479706' first='Samantha' last='Tillson'] 2024 6'3 McKinney High School    Samantha is a high energy forward prospect who is great at sealing off her opponents with her back to the basket, and utilizes strong post moves to get where she wants to on the court. I was very impressed by the grown woman moves she had in her arsenal already, dominating with her size, even when battling against another 6 foot prospect down low. She is unselfish out of the post, moving the ball when she draws the attention of the defense, but also passes the ball back out so she can reseal her opponent and score with a quick turn around move. She even showed an ability to spot up in the corners and stretch the defense as a catch and shoot option! She is an aware help side defender, who always has her head moving from the ball to her opponent she is supposed to guard, awarely sliding over at the right time to protect the rim and also deter a kick-out pass. I would like to see her work on her handle, both when operating out of the high post or atop the key, but also while she is maneuvering with her back to the basket. Tillson is a prospect I know I will keep my eye on as she goes into her junior season!   [player_tooltip player_id='331935' first='Alexia' last='Lohman'] 2023 5'9 Royse City High School    Alexia is a smart distributor at the wing position, who constantly has her head up to make the right read to set up her teammates. Her ability to scrap and her overall tenacity on the defensive end of the court is a real weapon, poking the ball free and keeping her head up to make the right pass. I was very impressed by how well she passed the ball up to create opportunities for her teammates. Lohman has all the tools to become an intense 3 and D type defender with how hard she plays the game, and her overall basketball IQ, willingness to pass the ball! As she continues to develop her shot from the outside off the catch, she will continue to become an increasingly more effective player.   [player_tooltip player_id='509673' first='Lexi' last='Hale'] 2023 5'7 Brookeland High School    Lexi is a silky smooth scorer in the paint, who uses her soft touch and long arms to finish over her opponents with ease. She routinely gets open on the block with a series of post moves and head fakes, manipulating her defender and going up strong down low. Her versatility and the ease in which she scores in the paint is a real weapon for her, and after dominating on the block her opponent's sagged off and then allowed her to show off her ability to stretch the floor from the mid-range and beyond the arc. She is an incredibly consistent mid range shooter, allowing her to score with ease if left open on the catch. Her versatility at the 4/5 spot can be a real weapon at the next level...   [player_tooltip player_id='509678' first='Madison' last='Bailey'] 2023 6'1 Queen City High School    Madison is an aware help side defender, who slides over at the right time to affect shots, but also still maintains enough distance to recover to her opponent in the corner. Bailey is a high level rim runner, who sucks all of the defense's attention as she runs straight down the center of the court. There were numerous instances in which her teammates were able to make skip passes over the top of the defense off of Madison drawing two defenders into the paint. She has a great motor, which allows her to be an effective rim runner but also makes her a weapon on the defensive end of the floor. Her energy is consistent and it allows her to be the first one back on defense, even after she cleans up the offensive glass! A college coach at the next level cannot wait to get their hands on her energy, aggressiveness, willingness to defend, and overall defensive IQ. I would like to see her work on her ability to catch difficult passes, there were a few passes that could have resulted in easy points, but I could not tell if it was her quickly taking her eyes off the ball or just a misplaced pass!   [player_tooltip player_id='331930' first='Erin' last='Love'] 2023 6'0 Bellaire High School    Erin is a strong force on the interior who showed an ability to finish at the rim, and clean up the glass. I loved watching her rush to dominate smaller match-ups when they were switched onto her after running the floor hard. She quickly gets them on her hip and pushes them under the rim with her body, clearing the lane for her to go up strong and finish. I would like to see her work on her spacial awareness, and sliding into open spaces to be an more consistent dump off pass option for her guards as they slash and attack the rim. I would also like to see her work on her foot speed and agility, she could be an effective rim runner with how she finishes in the paint if she improves her speed!
