Tonight a look at the Dayton City League, a group of public school in and around the downtown Dayton area. Without knowing all of the transfers who may have switched schools, I will take a look at who should be players and teams to watch among the City League. Only four of the six schools had winning records, and I expect Thurgood Marshall and Meadowdale to again be at the top of the standings this season.

They won the conference last season with a perfect 8-0 league record. They have the most talent returning including three players who look to advance to the next level. [player_tooltip player_id='218358' first='Morganne' last='Postell'] is a junior who is a D1 recruit and looks to add to her amazing sophomore season where she averaged over 20 points per game. She is athletic and can handle the ball, has amazing athleticism and can defend and play in transition. [player_tooltip player_id='280108' first='Samara' last='Gibson'] is a junior who didn't score a lot last season but she can score, has good range and is an amazing defender. Can turn mistakes into points for her team. Makayla Williams is another junior who scored at a 15 ppg pace last season. All three make up a very difficult group to defend.

With the reining Player of the Year in the league, Meadowdale will be a contender and challenge TM for the conference title. Longtime coach Chad Miller brings back [player_tooltip player_id='218359' first='Zhieyah' last='Rolack'] (feature photo above) who is a player who left her mark as a sophomore averaging nearly 26 points per game. She is a force in the paint and can step out and create. Solid defender and rebounder and moved up in the latest PGH rankings. Freshman point guard [player_tooltip player_id='538051' first='Bay'Shanna' last='Drake'] is one to watch and can take over a game. She is a highly touted point guard. Also freshman [player_tooltip player_id='538052' first='Janiyah' last='Middlebrook'] is another newcomer who will add rebounding.

They lost a lot of their offense as they look for players to step up this season. Sophomore Jovannah Jordan is their top returning scorer and her classmate sophomore A'rayiah McLemore is another player who had some good moments last season.

Belmont

Senior Shamaria Dees is a player who averaged a double-double last season as a junior. Another player who returns is junior Jariah Porter who had a solid sophomore season.
