Midweek (Week 3) Round Up From Middle Tennessee

After getting a few non-district games under their belt, ourTennessee girls were locked and loaded as they laced up their shoes for some week 3 matchups. Though the week isn't over, both Monday and Tuesday saw some girls go toe to toe as they get ready for district play coming soon. Here are a few standouts from the Middle Tennessee area from Monday and Tuesday</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='245299' first='Emily' last='Monson'] (Sr./SG/ Blackman)</strong>- The Purdue commit showed those in attendance why she's going to be a Lady Boilermaker at Purdue. From knocking down 3 balls, 15fts, and finishing around the rim, she helped propel the Lady Blaze to victory. Her smooth touch and her ability to knock down shots will definitely be one of the reasons the Lady Blaze will be looking to make a deep run this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='405846' first='Gigi' last='Harris'] (Jr./PG/ Fairview)</strong>- This swift lefty is a go-getter. Hard nose defender who just gets after it. She was on it Monday night, getting to the rim and hitting shots from beyond the arc. She led the Lady Yellow Jackets with 15 pts.&nbsp; Ms. Harris can run the point. Thought she contributed in the scoring column, getting her teammates involved is a passion of hers. Look for her and her squad to make some noise throughout the season.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='409017' first='Ella' last='Ryan'] (So./ PG/ Brentwood)</strong>- Super tough kid with a motor. Ella is just a bucket. Had 21 against Wilson Central where she was knocking down shots from all over the floor. Plays the game with such confidence, she's the heartbeat of a lethal Lady Bruins attack. A gym rat who works at her craft, this young hooper is gonna be tough to deal with throughout her HS career.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='285369' first='Abby' last='McFarland'] (Sr./G/ PCA)</strong>- She's a bucket. The transformation of her game over the years has been sensational. Dropped 29 pts Tuesday night and this girl's game just keeps getting better. A multi-level scoring threat that is a two-way player. Lee University got a steal in this player.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Tonie Davis (Sr./F/Rockvale)</strong>- Had 20 pts Tuesday night as she led the Lady Rockets in scoring. Was getting it done from the mid-range, around the blocks, and knocked down a few 3 balls. Tonie has led the Lady Rockets every game this season in scoring. You can tell she is playing with tremendous confidence. Look for her to keep this momentum up as her squad gets into district play.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='506234' first='Leilani' last='Washington'] (So./CG/ Nolensville)</strong>-&nbsp; This combo guard has been playing like a beast. Was knifing through defenses on the way to dropping 24 points Tuesday night. Leilani has stepped into the season looking to prove something. Tough defender who is looking to make her opponents day hectic. Her defense leads to offensive opportunities. Possessing a nice mid-range game, she will also step out beyond the arc especially when opponents give her space to do so. Look for this kid to turn it up even hotter as the season goes on.<br><strong>Aubrey Blakenship (Sr./SG/Green Hill)</strong>- Such an outstanding player. The 6'1 Samford commit is a lights out from all over the floor. From knocking down shots from beyond the arc, to getting it down inside, it doesn't matter where she is, the ball is going to find the bottom of the net. Dropped 30 pts Tuesday night in an overtime win against Oakland. The star attraction to a nice Green Hill squad, she is the engine that makes her team go. Plays such a pivotal role on the floor, but her game is flawless as she can do multiple things. Try and stop her, other opportunities for her teammates come to fruition.
