McKenna Johnson McKenna Johnson 5'9" | SG Wilmot | 2024 State WI
Highlights
There is no more out-of-this-world story of watching a kid play for the first time than Johnson’s. The first time I saw her play was in Romeoville last April, and she managed to score over 20 points with a stress fracture in her leg she didn’t know about against a talented Wolverinas team. If that doesn’t show how wired to score she is, I don’t know what will. Johnson can score from anywhere on the floor and create her shot. The lefty is one of the more complete scoring guards in the state.
Alexa Kinas Alexa Kinas 5'8" | CG Kaukauna | 2024 State WI
Kinas has a combination of athleticism and skill, making her a challenge on both ends. The Kaukauna guard is a willing defender who can move her feet and stay in front of most guards she’ll see at the high school level. On the offensive end, the FVA product may be the sharpest cutter in the 2024 class. When Kinas changes directions, she usually leaves her initial defender with their feet glued to the floor. She can play either guard position and thrive in each role. She doesn’t need the ball to excel, and it helps that she shot well over 40% from the 3-point line last season.
I don’t think you’ll find many kids more fun to watch than Verhagen. Her court vision is second to none, and she gathers information on defenses quickly. It’s not uncommon for her to connect on no-look passes because she knows where her teammates are on the floor at all times. Verhagen can break down every defense she sees and makes the right decision more often than not. The more she gets used to the attention she’ll draw in D5, the better she’ll be in the long run.
Anna Terrian Anna Terrian 5'8" | CG Pewaukee | 2025 State WI
Her sister Amy took the state tournament by storm with her 30 points against then-undefeated Reedsburg, but Anna is an incredibly talented kid in her own right. Anna does every little thing coaches love. She loves the defensive end, she’s vigilant off the ball, makes perfect cuts, reads the game on both ends proficiently, and understands what she needs to do within her role to help her team win games. I didn’t get to see her Lakers team play much over the summer, but in the one competitive game I did see, I’d say Anna was the difference between winning and losing.
