Point Guard: Nicole Sherer
Nicole Sherer
Nicole Sherer
Nicole Sherer was a fantastic leader on the floor last season for the Woodbine Tigers as their starting point guard. Sherer did her best job of conducting the offensive in a type of way that would bring success to all involved. Being a overall solid player is something that she has worked hard for up to this point in her career and it showed last year on the court. The best part of her game coming from the passing aspect. Her passing ability is second to none as she recorded 163 assists in just 24 games, ranking her as #2 in the 1A class during the 21′-22′ season. She will return this year with the same efficient passing ability, elite vision, and solid structure to help her team complete a successful year, ending with a visit to the state playoffs.
Shooting Guard: Molly Joyce Molly Joyce 5'7" | PG Bishop Garrigan | 2023 State IA
This was a very difficult pick for myself to make when it all came down to it but in the end I decided to go with Molly Joyce Molly Joyce 5’7″ | PG Bishop Garrigan | 2023 State IA for a few reasons. For her current high school team she plays the point guard position, dishing out assists left and right while also possessing the ability to score at will, but when you look at her in the long run I think she is more of a shooting guard at the college level compared to right now. Her ability to shoot the ball and score at such a high rate is second to none, while her game style really favors the play for the 2 or 3 spot compared to the point position. Joyce will have a great opportunity to repeat as state champions this next season as they return herself and Iowa State commit, Audi Crooks Audi Crooks 6’3″ | C Bishop Garrigan | 2023 State #42 Nation IA , to play the center position. I’m expecting another sensational year out of both stars as I couldn’t imagine the numbers they would put up if they were on their own team, being the main option.
Highlights
Combo Guard: Sadie Cox
Sadie Cox
Sadie Cox
Sadie Cox lead her Lenox High School team in several categories last year as a freshman, being a vocal leader and playmaker for the Tigers more and more as the year progressed. Cox is a effective combo forward with a very high ceiling if she keeps working at her craft in the offseason. She is a player that moves well off the ball, can rebound well with her height, and can dribble a decent amount. She likes to grab a rebound and take it coast to coast if she has the chance when no one steps up to stop her. Her aggressive game play and high ceiling put hers in this combo forward position. If she is to keep growing her game and physically as an individual, she is going to be a problem for another team without a solid post presence to match up with her. I expect her to have a break out year for the Tigers as they attempt to compete in conference and get some momentum going into the playoffs.
Forward: Madison Hillman Madison Hillman 6'1" | PF Saint Ansgar | 2023 State IA
Saint Ansgar High School didn’t make it to far once the playoffs started last year as they fell in the quarterfinal game to Nashua-Plainfield High school, capping off their season with an overall 14-9 record, 10-6 in conference. Retuning for this season, the Saints will bring back some major contributors from a year ago to try and piece the puzzle back together once again for successful season. One of those key juniors being Madison Hillman Madison Hillman 6’1″ | PF Saint Ansgar | 2023 State IA . Hillman, the 6’2 froward, lead the Saints in scoring, and rebounding last year. Showing that she is a name to be known in the paint when you are playing against her. She averaged a double double by simply being superior to her completion she went up against. She was bigger, fast, and stronger VS anyone she played, leading to some good results. Looking forward to the 22′-23′ season, the Saints will have a good group of core players coming back to make some noise as the year goes forward. Hillman will be even more of a key piece to their offense coming up this winter and she is ready for the challenge.

Center: Audi Crooks Audi Crooks 6'3" | C Bishop Garrigan | 2023 State #42 Nation IA
Audi Crooks Audi Crooks 6’3″ | C Bishop Garrigan | 2023 State #42 Nation IA is ranked as the #1 player in the class of 2023 in the state of Iowa and for good reason. The Iowa State women’s basketball commit returns back for her senior season as she attempts to take her Bishop Garrigan High School team all the way to the state championship. Crooks who has been a viral sensation for a few years now because of her basketball abilities, is the real deal. She can score with the best of them, has great footwork, elite passing ability, and can defend anyone she comes up against. Her skillset speaks for itself when you watch her play, weather it be high school competition or on an AAU circuit. This Bishop Garrigan team will have a good shot of bringing home another state title as they will return all their key players from a year ago. I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens while Crooks has another “Player Of The Year” type season.
