Talented Playmakers in the Class of 2024

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Today, I'd like to highlight some of the best playmakers in the class of 2024. Sometimes when thinking about what a playmaker is, the only thing people think of is the passing side of it. However, playmakers can create for themselves and get their teammates easy looks. Let's talk about some of the best playmakers in the junior class this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='314132' first='Brynnly' last='German']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Martensdale-St. Mary's guard led all sophomores in assists with 6.2 per contest. German exemplifies all the traits coaches love in guards. My favorite aspect of her game is how well she navigates pressure. When German is on the floor, it's difficult to find much success pressing when a kid can skip through the press as if it's not even there. She may not put up gaudy scoring numbers, but she's one of the first names on every opposing team's scouting report.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='246099' first='Callie' last='Levin']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Iowa commit is an explosive offensive threat and forces defenses to play reactively. It's rare to see any defensive unit get Levin to do what they'd like. The Solon guard makes things happen off the dribble and gets defenses to bite at multiple feints to get them out of position. Even if Levin has a "down" game, she's liable to change that in a split second, go on a 10-0 personal run and change the complexion of a contest within minutes.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='502339' first='Morgan' last='Christian']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Sioux Central guard was near the top of the assist leaders in the sophomore class last season and scored over 14 points per game. With that, she was nearly directly involved with at least 22 of her team's 46 points per game on average. That level of involvement within an offense is impressive. Christian also has plenty of room to grow. She can handle the volume of the Rebels' offense. The next step for her will be to try and improve some of the peripheral numbers. It could be making a few more shots or trimming down the turnovers. She could make waves in the Twin Lakes.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='246162' first='Mallory' last='Leerar']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>West Hancock did an excellent job moving the ball last season, averaging 13 assists on 20 made shots per game, and Leerar contributed to that. The sophomore boasted a positive assist-to-turnover ratio for a competitive group last year and will likely have an increased role with the graduation of Kennedy Kelly. I'll be curious to see how Leerar handles more volume this coming season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
