There have been a few kids who've started this season with absurd numbers. Today, I want to talk about some sneaky candidates for first-team all-state. There isn't much order to this. I only want to mention some kids who you may not have thought would have been possible first-team all-state performers in their division.

[player_tooltip player_id='206574' first='MaKenzie' last='Drout']

The main knock I've ever heard about Drout has been her shot selection, and that's been no problem for her this season. Drout has shot the ball at an unbelievable clip early this season. The Appalachian State commit has silly shooting splits of 45/62/94. I'm not exactly sure where this has come from, nor would I have guessed she had this level of play within herself. She's been unbelievable against some of the better teams in the state, and even after two subpar games by the standards she's set over her time at Kimberly, she's still having one of the best starts to the season in Wisconsin.

[player_tooltip player_id='388287' first='Alayna' last='West']

If you would've told me La Follette would be 5-1 through the first six Big Eight Conference games, I would've said that [player_tooltip player_id='388287' first='Alayna' last='West'] would have to be one of the best players in the state. Well, [player_tooltip player_id='388287' first='Alayna' last='West'] has been THE best player in the state this season. The junior is currently leading the state in scoring and rebounding, and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who's had a comparable season to West.

[player_tooltip player_id='209900' first='Sydney' last='Cherney']

The Reedsburg guard is in a similar position to West. Each lost an elite senior class and now is left with a new team and has to battle for every possession if they want a chance to win. Cherney's numbers aren't as gaudy, but 32.8 points are still absurd. Cherney even led her Reedsburg team to a win over Sauk Prairie, which I didn't see coming, and in Division 2, she's been one of the best kids over the past two seasons, and with her numbers, it's hard to deny.

[player_tooltip player_id='329557' first='Grace' last='Schisel']

In D3, it's easy to forget kids not playing for Waupun or Freedom because those two are in a different class than everyone else, but Schisel has been outstanding this season. The Grand View commit has been one of the best scorers in the state over the past year, but she's gotten to the free-throw line much more this season. Even though they lost a narrow one to Brillion this season, Schisel makes this group dangerous.

[player_tooltip player_id='448295' first='Abby' last='Hollis']

I've been saying it since May, Hollis is a name to know in D5 this season. She has shooting splits of 49/54/100, and she's been one of the most consistent scorers in D5 this season. With Randolph out, D5 is wide open. Don't be surprised if Hollis takes this postseason by storm. She's that good.
