Over the last few days, we've looked at players who excel at particular parts of the game, and we'll do the same to end the weekend. Today, we're looking at some intriguing ball handlers in the class of 2027 who can play the lead guard spot and make plays for their teammates. The 2027 class has had a handful of intriguing ball handlers, so let's look at a few to round out the weekend.

Gruman is a little out of sight, out of mind at the moment because she isn't playing on the grassroots scene this spring and summer, and missed her sophomore season due to a knee injury. However, the Random Lake guard is a kid who can create with the ball. She changes directions well, gets downhill, finishes around the rim, and can space the floor. She's a solid athlete who excelled in her first year back from a severe knee injury.

Somehow, someway, Lauer only plays winning basketball and makes winning plays. When her Kettle Moraine Lutheran team needed plays to swing games, she always popped her head up and made plays that don't always show up on the box score. Lauer is an excellent athlete who can defend and make plays on the ball. However, no matter where she ends up, I have to assume she'll help elevate whatever program she plays for at the next level.

Covery didn't play her junior season due to injury, but now is as good a time as any to leave a reminder about what she does and the impact she brings to the floor. The New Richmond guard can create her shot with the ball in her hands and has the footwork to make plays when getting downhill. She has had to be a high-usage player at the high school level to give her team a chance to compete, but she's a player coaches shouldn't forget about in the 2027 class.

Richard does a tremendous job of getting to her spots and making things happen for her teammates. The rising senior from Platteville has been one of the state leaders in assists in each of her three seasons at the high school level. She's a good athlete who can beat her defenders off the dribble and use her physicality to play through contact around the basket. There are aspects of her game to work on, but the mindset she has, whether she plays on or off the ball, will help a program get better looks offensively.
