The gym was packed on both sides, but the game never really lived up to the hype. Mercy got 4 quick points from Myah Hazelton Myah Hazelton 6'4" | PF Sparrows Point | 2024 State MD but ended up with only 10 points at the half, thanks to Poly’s constant pressure. The Lady Engineers were able to slow Mercy’s offense down with strong on ball pressure at the point of attack and excellent help defense when needed. They led 25-10 at the break and never really looked back. Rebounding was heavily in Poly’s favor as they crashed the boards relentlessly on their way to a comfortable win.
Trinity had a solid all-around game with 16 points and 11 rebounds. In the second half she really asserted herself and wore down her opponents. She was impactful on defense and on the glass, setting the tone for her teammates to follow.
Riley was a beast in this game, chipping in her own double double as well. She made several nice back cuts for easy buckets and got out in transition as well. She is a big part of what Poly does and she played her role perfectly in this game.
Highlights
When Chloe checked in someone in the crowd of Mercy supporters yelled out “mismatch.” Not so fast. Chloe is barely five feet tall, but she is rarely in a mismatch. She plays outstanding Mugsy Bogues type on-ball defense and rarely gets beat off the dribble. She held her own in this one and provided quality minutes for the Engineers while running their offense. Watching this freshman baller for the next 3 years will be fun.
McKenna was a bright spot for Mercy in this one, scoring 10 second half points and providing interior toughness. She fought to the end, even when the game was pretty much decided. She put the ball on the floor and got to the basket where she was able to finish and draw some fouls.
Olivia finished with 10 points, including a couple of three pointers. I thought she competed hard the entire game and played solid defense.

Da’Brya set the tone early, taking on the challenge defensively of guarding Mercy’s top player in Milan Brown Milan Brown 5’9″ | CG Mercy | 2025 State MD . She did a great job staying in front of her and contesting shots without fouling and keeping her below her season’s average. On offense she was a threat all game, scoring 12 points including a couple of long threes. She attacked the paint and broke down Mercy’s defense, either scoring or dishing out assists to her teammates.
