The games span four days and bring in teams from the border to the UP. It’s a full slate of games that start at nine in the morning and go past nine at night. Most of the games on Day 1 came down to the final minute and had some strong performances. We are going to give some love to the kids that just destroy the other team’s offensive flow. These are my kind of players that other teams don’t know they hate before the game but realize it very quickly.
The Clarkston point guard was called on to check one of the best guards in the SVL and the state and did an amazing job. She navigated screens, DHOs, and pin downs without allowing an easy look. On the other side of the ball, she did a great job of handling the Grand Blanc pressure. She got the offense started for her team with a first quarter scoring explosion.
Ravyn is a kid that is going to be a problem in years to come. She has the height, the strength, and the athleticism to be an elite two way player. She is stuck behind a couple of really good players, but she is going to go to be really good when her number is called. For now, she is just a high energy defender that rebounds and disrupts. Expect to see her on the first team next year.
Aaliyah Harrison
Aaliyah Harrison
Aaliyah is a solid on ball defender but does her damage in off ball situations. She has a feel for passing lanes and baits passes with the best. I love kids that make use of their feet to disrupt passes. She had a couple of nice blocks, but her highlight had to be turning a one point deficit into a three point lead with back to buckets.
Emily Smith
Emily Smith
The past couple of years, Oscoda has been known for its outside shooting, and Emily Smith is a kid that fits their style. She is a 3 and D player that keeps her girl in front and gets enough steals to keep passers honest. She is a nice passer as well- all around solid player.
Kynnedi Patterson
Kynnedi Patterson
Legit the smallest kid on the court yet absolutely destroyed the other team defensively. This kid is a one girl press. I guarantee some kids had nightmares about a kid that can’t be shaken and is willing to cover the entire floor every possession. She turned a close game into a blowout. Everyone gave love to her teammates, but Patterson was the difference.
