Covington has always been full of upside as a prospect and is seeing it come to fruition. She was dominant against West Bloomfield. Convington delivered a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. If she plays like that, Arbor Prep could hoist a state championship trophy at the end of the season.
Detroit Renaissance brought it on Saturday, defeating a talented Belleville team. Sanders was incredibly dynamic offensively. She went off for a game high 36 points. When she scores like that, and Renaissance plays their hard nosed defense, the rest of the state must take notice.
Surprie, surprise….. Macy Brown Macy Brown 5’11” | PG East Grand Rapids | 2023 State MI was outstanding on Saturday. She has the look of a legitimate Miss Basketball candidate so far this season. Brown notched a double-double against Westfield Prep, scoring 35 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Don’t overlook this star, because Bush has been ready to go this season. She was terrific on Saturday leading Potterville to a win. Bush finished the night with 23 points, 12 boards, and 5 steals. She went 6-6 from the free throw line. Olivet has a good one coming in next year.
Utomi was key in her team’s big win on Saturday. She showed versatility in her game, defending all over the floor. Stacy scored 15 points in the game, but that was just the beginning of her contributions.
Stephanie Utomi Stephanie Utomi 5’9″ | SG Arbor Prep | 2024 State MI was also very impressive on Saturday. She showed her typical toughness which should probably be talked about more often. Utomi showed that she, even as a superstar, was willing to do the little things to help her team to a win. She finished the game with 15 points.
Jones looks ready to go this season as she exploded on Saturday. She led her team with a game high 28 points. Best thing is, she brought it on both ends of the floor using her quick hands on defense to get 8 steals.
