Friday, we released the Winter rankings update for the Class of 2023. There were more than 25 new additions, plus a few players who raised their “stock”, so to speak, so subsequently there was some movement throughout the list. I wanted to take this time to circle back and address all of the ranked prospects, position by position. Below is a look at 48 shooting guard prospects who make up 19.2% of the rankings this time around, with analysis on a handful to “keep an eye on” detailed at the bottom.

KEEP AN EYE ON:
One of Indiana’s top uncommitted 2023 prospects. Savanna is a long, wiry-strong, fairly athletic wing guard. She can handle and occasionally run offense, she’s a consistent perimeter shooter, and she can slice through the defense and score in the mid-range or at the basket. I really like her competitive fire and her versatility at the defensive end of the floor. She can take on all wing guards, undersized forwards, and a few point guards. I think her value at the next level comes from her ability to fit into most offenses, play a combination of roles, and do it with a nice basketball IQ.
Emmrey is an intriguing wing prospect who I think a lot of small colleges could be interested in. She has tremendous length, wiry strength, and she plays with a nice motor. She’s a good athlete in most directions, and she has a nice first step. When she was younger, she seemed to thrive more on attacking the basket and settling for open jumpers, but now she’s a much better rhythm shooter outside, and she almost needs to drive it more. She is noticeably stronger, more physical, and she is starting to rebound and defend different types of players better.
Kennedy is an extremely long, wiry, fluid athlete who has given West Lafayette good minutes since her Freshman year. She has a reputation of being a perimeter shooter, and she still is a good one, but as she’s gotten older, she’s gotten stronger and started to attack the basket more and more. As a more complete scorer, she’s been much more difficult to defend. She has improved defensively as well, she’s rebounding it at a higher rate, and she’s starting to handle the ball more and make plays for others off the bounce. She could be a nice small college sleeper.
