Recent games have enabled me to see some veteran players I have not seen since the summer or last season. Here is a look at eleven to look out for.

[player_tooltip player_id='127287' first='Summya' last='Adigun'], CG/SF, Hugoton, 2023 - The Northwest Oklahoma State University commit is strong, tough, and extremely versatile. She has stepped in at point guard at times but is usually found playing and defending at the three and four spots. She has strong finishing ability, transitions and plays both ends consistently well, and is a solid perimeter threat. Perhaps her greatest strength is rebounding, especially on the offensive end. Adigun is closing in on 600 rebounds in her career.

Southeast of Saline 2023 [player_tooltip player_id='298587' first='Avery' last='Caselman'].

[player_tooltip player_id='231272' first='Karter' last='Alvord'], 5'8", SF/PF, McPherson, 2024 - A key cog in the Bullpups rotation Alvord can light up from three point land and finish with physicality and at speed. In a recent win over Mulvane she racked up 17 points. She is also a physical, fierce defender. She changes ends well and often gets good opportunites because she out-runs and out-works opponents.

[player_tooltip player_id='298587' first='Avery' last='Caselman'], 5'8", CG, Southeast of Saline, 2023 - The hard-working guard is a two-way player with good energy that can wear opponents down. Not only is she a good perimeter shooter but she also is fast, athletic, an effective passer, and a hustler. Defensively Caselman shows her smarts and physicality off. She punctuated those abilities in a win over Hillsboro where she shut down the strong scorer [player_tooltip player_id='231274' first='Zaylee' last='Werth'] in the second half. Caselman is uncommitted.

Southeast of Saline 2023 [player_tooltip player_id='191491' first='Reagan' last='Goetz']. Photo: Robert Kelly.

[player_tooltip player_id='298586' first='Alexis' last='Dukes'], 5'8", PF, McPherson, 2023 - Dukes is a key player due to her physical stature and her ability to handle and shoot. Over the years I have watched her quietly hone her abilities. This past summer she was not able to hook up with a club team like years before but she found other means to continue growing her game. A quiet presence on the floor she hurts opponents with her strong crossover, ability to get to the basket and finish through contact, and due to her ability to effectively shoot the three ball. Dukes is deceivingly fast. She is uncommitted.

[player_tooltip player_id='396402' first='Teagan' last='Garrison'], 5'6", PG, Mulvane, 2024 - After what I saw from Garrison at McPherson there is absolutely no question she better be a AVCTL Div IV first team selection. The Bullpups are always and consistently physical. And playing against one of the strongest point guard defenders around in [player_tooltip player_id='156294' first='Chloe' last='Clevenger'] she showed floor leadership and handles against full court pressure, traps, and double-teams. A terrific ball handler, Garrison plays bigger due to her length and toughness. A threat to score from beyond the arc she is also a walking, traditional three-point play. Finishing with 21 points against Augusta recently, she was 13/14 from the line.

[player_tooltip player_id='191491' first='Reagan' last='Goetz'], 5'9", SF/PF, Southeast of Saline, 2023 - The Kansas Wesleyan University commit is a pure small forward who plays several spots, including the five, due to the Trojans lack of size. Goetz is strong, fast, aggressive, and an effective finisher off the bounce or around the block. She is also a solid three point shooter. Her vertical is substantial, helping her get to snag rebounds in a crowd and to shoot over challengers to her mid-range and perimeter shot.

[player_tooltip player_id='94958' first='Mikyn' last='Hamlin'], 5'8", CG, Hugoton, 2023 - The University of Wyoming commit has been eased back into the mix over the past four games after being out with a knee injury since mid-summer. That culminated in her first start of the season against Southeast of Saline at the Sterling Invitational. Knocking off the rust from being out Hamlin has shown the finishing strength, scoring ability, and agility I am used to seeing. Hamlin is a thousand point scorer for the Eagles.

[player_tooltip player_id='231271' first='Adrian' last='Hazelwood'], 5'7", SG, Smoky Valley, 2024 - A strong, physical player Hazelwood also handles with speed and finishes through contact. She will hit the three ball in flow as well off the step back with consistency. Hazelwood is also a competitive rebounder on both ends.

[player_tooltip player_id='191473' first='Kate' last='Rowland'], 5'7", SG, Sterling, 2023 - One of the few returning Black Bear's with substantial varsity experience, Rowland is one of the team's floor leaders and top ball handlers. She handles well against full court pressure and is a effective finisher. Her post-up ability enables her to get opposing guards in foul trouble. Rowland is uncommitted.

[player_tooltip player_id='94974' first='Gianna' last='Vos'], SG, Hugoton, 2023 - The Florida Southern College commit not only uses her long wingspan effectively on defense but it combines with her accuracy with and elevation on her shot. A strong perimeter shooter, Vos also steps in running the point at times. She transitions well, and with speed, and moves well off the ball including into space. Continues to show an ability to score in flurries. Vos crossed the thousand point threshhold at the just completed Sterling Invitational, the same event her teammate [player_tooltip player_id='94958' first='Mikyn' last='Hamlin'] crossed it in 2022.

Lauren Young, 6'0", C/PF, Mulvane, 2023 - Young is new to my radar and I am thrilled to have seen her play at McPherson. She competed with physicality and showed good rebounding ability. A high potential post player with diverse scoring ability, she is also a effective post defender. I really like how well she changes ends, does so with hustle and speed, catches well, and scores on the fly. Young is uncommitted.
