Poly staked an early lead behind some nice work by Trinity Massenburg Trinity Massenburg 6'1" | PF Baltimore Poly | 2023 State MD and Da’Brya Clark Da’Brya Clark 5'8" | SG Baltimore Poly | 2023 State MD ., but Pallotti rallied in the second quarter to keep things close. An early run by Pallotti in the third quarter gave them control of the game, but the more experienced Lady Engineers made some big shots in the fourth quarter and pulled out a 54-50 win. Let’s take a look at some of the impact players from both sides.
All six of Riley’s points came from the foul line, including four big ones in the fourth quarter. She hit the floor, played strong defense and crashed the boards relentlessly. This is her DNA and it’s what she does on a regular basis. She is still looking for the right college fit. She’s a strong power forward that can step out to the perimeter and knock down shots.
Highlights
Da”Brya was the game’s high scorer with 19 points. She was solid as a floor general in this one, handling Pallotti’s full court pressure and making good decisions with the ball. She applied her own pressure, disrupting Pallotti’s guard platoon and causing multiple turnovers. She rarely gets rattled and seems to come up with big shots when her team needs them. She is headed to Norfolk State University.
Mickelle is a bucket getter and finished with 5 points. She did not play heavy minutes in this game, but with her team needing a big basket late, Coach Kendall Peace subbed her in. She immediately cashed in a huge three pointer with a under a minute left to put Poly on top for good. She has a knack for making clutch shots and I wanted to recognize her for that. She will be a contributor at the next level because shooters are needed at every level.
Gabby led Pallotti with 15 points, including three 3 pointers. A long an athletic wing with excellent two-way potential, Gabby was decisive and aggressive on offense all game. She shot the ball with confidence and moved constantly without the ball to put pressure on the defense. She also chipped in 3 rebounds and two steals.
Autumn was a ball of energy in this one. She applied constant pressure and harassed Poly’s guards all over the court. She is a good rebounder for a small guard and managed to get her hands on a few in this game. She is steadily improving as a floor general and her skill set on offense is expanding. She knocked down a three pointer late in the game and it came out of her hands without hesitation.
