Continue ReadingTuesday afternoon saw Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey release its update prospect rankings with 210+ ranked prospects and a number of Watch List prospects. There’s plenty of new faces and plenty of old faces in new places and new positions on the list. Here’s our updated top five prospects for the 2025 class.
1. Mia Pauldo Mia Pauldo 5'7" | CG Morris Catholic | 2025 State NJ – 5-7 CG, Morris Catholic
Mia at No. 1 seems like a no-brainer and she’s retained the position since really the mid-point of her freshman season after we altered our watch list into rankings. What a special talent she is and a creative player overall. Pauldo can do so much on the floor and knows how to run an offense as well as anyone in the country. An elite shooter, an excellent ball-handler and a strong defender, she’s matured well into her sophomore year at Morris Catholic and against ridiculous national competition, she’s more than held her own.
2. Daniella Matus Daniella Matus 5'10" | CG St. John Vianney | 2025 State NJ – 5-9 CG, Morris Catholic
It was really hard to not have the trio of Morris Catholic standouts as our top three, but they’ve shown to be fantastic players and leaders on a team that’s once again put together an incredibly tough schedule. Matus has gotten the attention of a number of Division 1 schools already and for good reason; she has a well-rounded game with a keen ability to score and to make things happen on either side of the ball. Playing against the nation’s best will only help to strengthen more down the road.
3. Mya Pauldo Mya Pauldo 5'7" | CG Morris Catholic | 2025 State NJ – 5-7 CG, Morris Catholic
The latter of the Pauldo sisters, Mya, has continued to be a scorer, but has worked immensely on her rebounding and passing, much like what we saw last season. Her numbers might not fully reflect how talented of a player she is, at least for this season, but again, the well-rounded game is there and her defense is among the best in the state. Crafty with a high basketball IQ, Pauldo plays with poise and with style.
4. Paradise Fisher Paradise Fisher 5'6" | PG University | 2025 State NJ – 5-6 PG, University
Fisher’s development this season hasn’t necessarily come as a scorer, but as a playmaker and facilitator, which you can directly see looking at her stats. Her 6.8 assists per game ranks among the highest in the state and add in 4.2 steals per game to the mix there. Both are improvements on her freshman year and with time, she’s going to just continue to improve and dominate. We talk a lot about triple-double machines and Fisher is easily someone who can answer the call there.
5. Reese Downey Reese Downey 5'7" | PG Absegami | 2025 State NJ – 5-6 PG, Absegami
Our highest-ranked South Jersey player, Downey has built off a strong foundation from her freshman year and is that much better of a shooter and all-around player. She’s the kind of player you want to give the ball to in any big situation and someone who is just a spark-plug, an incredible scorer with great ball-handling abilities that will get her out of any jam on the floor. Her three-point shooting has gotten better and more efficient at that while her rebounding and passing have stayed the course as her on-court basketball IQ rises.
