As a freshman, Fairmont has really been a consistent team. Thorton displays great court sense and composure when she is under pressure. Possesses quick feet and a powerful first step to the rim and can finish on either side while attacking the rim. Sharpshooter and visionary passer. She demonstrates great board anticipation and crashes the glass to grab rebounds at the right time as the shot goes up and promptness.
Highlights
incredibly gifted freshman who is still improving. Being a freshman, she has already stepped into the leadership role, as she not only leads this unbeaten squad in scoring but also in 3-point shooting. Through the course of the season, her defense has increased significantly, frequently defending the top player on the opposing side. Plays with a strong motor and always tries her hardest; very athletic. Accelerates the pace and completes the break at the rim.
As a freshman, she dominated the Dayton City League, plays with great body control, and has made significant improvements to her game throughout the season. averages around 18 points per game and grabs 9 boards each game, making her a powerhouse on the glass. Excellent agility and handling skills allow for shot creation and rim-finishing. As her game keeps getting better, she has scored 20 points in 5 of her last 7 games. Good on-ball defender who can force errors from you.
What remarkable progress she has made on a talented team. Bella has played a significant role in the Elks’ performance this season, which has been essential at times. Can defend as well as the majority of freshmen, plays well both on and off the ball, and has the ability to cause errors. She can make the three from anywhere on the arc when shooting from the outside. She carries herself well and performs beyond her years. Look for her to keep getting better when she plays with the Vipers in the summer.
As her freshman season has gone on, she has grown more at ease with the game. She has scored in the double digits 7 times in the last 9 games, including 21 against Greenville. She has excellent court vision, the ability to make the difficult pass to the open player, and the ability to manage the game’s pace. She is athletic and quick, and she can score from outside or close to the basket. Hard-working, with a strong work ethic, and playing with a lot of enthusiasm for victory.
