The stage has been set and at the beginning of the season, I thought it would come down to Pearland and Summer Creek to see who represents Region 3. [player_tooltip player_id='96125' first='RyLee' last='Grays'] (North Carolina) and [player_tooltip player_id='134042' first='Jorynn' last='Ross'] (Pepperdine) are two of the top senior posts in Texas and they have been keys to their respective team's success

Here are the standouts from their game

REGION 3

PEARLAND

[player_tooltip player_id='96125' first='RyLee' last='Grays']-6'2 C [2023]

Grays was solid on both ends crashing the boards, and good interior defense and helped get her squad going early scoring around the paint

[player_tooltip player_id='134034' first='Janae' last='Tucker']-5'8 CG [2023]

Tucker mixed everything up nicely as she hit key buckets, saw the floor, and played good defense yet her poise under pressure was also huge

Paige Bonner-5'8 PG [2023]

Speaking of "poise under pressure" Bonner came up big, especially down the stretch and her clutch shooting from the free-throw line helped seal the victory

SUMMER CREEK

[player_tooltip player_id='134042' first='Jorynn' last='Ross']-6'3 C [2023]

Ross went after the ball off the rim on both ends of the court, she scored around the basket and also did a good job defensively in the paint

[player_tooltip player_id='793237' first='Mariah' last='Brown']-5'10 F [2024]

Brown also went after the ball relentlessly, both off the rim and loose balls as well yet she scored on putbacks and defended in and outside then paint

[player_tooltip player_id='510469' first='Kennedy' last='Simpson']-5'8 SG [2026]

Simpson made the transition over the high school basketball with ease and her understanding of how to score in the flow and play within herself kept her in the starting lineup. Her upside is BIG, and so was the basket she hit as her squad made their last run

REGION 4

Clark is returning to state and their back-to-back regional victories have been impressive, here are the standouts from their game

CLARK

Kaitlin Whitlock-5'9 G [2023]

Whitlock has the right name because she was LOCK DOWN defensively and played the passing lane. She also scored off the basket using a deceptive first step

[player_tooltip player_id='533760' first='Ramsey' last='Robledo']-5'9 SG [2023]

Robledo was her usual playoff-pressure self dropping 4 from deep at the last count but she has shown time and time again she can change the momentum by dropping big shots at the right time

[player_tooltip player_id='388151' first='Arianna' last='Roberson']-6'4 C [2024]

Roberson filled up the stat sheet as she not only scored around the basket, she even dropped the long ball but she's long and athletic, that will always be the base, and her timing to block, alter and or deflect shots, gave the offensive player something to think about when challenging her. She rebounded on both ends and played solid defense in the paint

BRENNAN

[player_tooltip player_id='793204' first='Tyra' last='Sotello']-5'6 CG [2024]

Sotello was smooth as she not handled the ball under pressure but saw the floor under pressure as well. I was just as impressed with her defense and let me not leave out she dropped some shots

[player_tooltip player_id='309648' first='Taylor' last='Ross']-5'11 PF [2024]

Ross was on a mission and her going after the ball off the rim, on both ends, helped them stay in the game early. She finished inside the paint, scored on putbacks, after contact, and dropped the long ball

[player_tooltip player_id='510462' first='Bella' last='Flemings']-5'10 PG [2026]

Flemings has also made the transition to high school basketball with ease and she's one of the top freshmen in the country. She understands how to control the tempo, and she sees the floor and threads the needle as well as any point guard in Texas and she can score, both off the dribble and from outside
