The lefty guard brought tons of energy to the court and set the pace for Eastlake with her ability to change direction quickly, put together multiple moves, and sellout for loose balls. She racked up steals, long rebounds, and contributed a few 3-pointers too. She was another player that ended up leaving the game early after running full speed into the front row but left a big mark on the game leading the Wolves on both ends.

Go ahead and pencil her in as a player of the year candidate in class 4A. She’s coming off a junior season where she averaged 15.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.8 steals. She is invaluable to this team and one of the best off-guards in the state. She shines on both ends of the floor.

Sofia is always going to show up, whether it be points, rebounds, defense, she is a factor in some way. A two guard who can handle it well enough to play the point. She has a great feel for the game. She and Mia Broom Mia Broom 5'8" | CG Lakeside | 2024 State WA make for a great backcourt, which was one of the biggest factors in the tournament title run. I must have jinxed her when I said she doesn’t miss free throws, she missed a couple but she has great shot mechanics. She does the most damage getting to the basket and drawing fouls, and in the mid-range. She can shoot it from three but likes to get downhill.

Sofia is a tough and hard nosed player on both sides of the ball. She gets most of her baskets with strong drives to the hoop. She also can create havoc on defense with her side to side speed and quickness. I’m not sure I have ever seen her miss a free throw and she gets to the line a lot. I would imagine she will put up a lot of double doubles as well with her drive to get loose balls and rebounds. She and Wood are a great inside – out combo. I had her for 16 points in the win along with several steals and rebounds.

How do you think your team and yourself performed throughout this season?rn-I think there was so much growth in every player on our team throughout this season and I believe what got us to the state championship game was our overall team chemistry and how much we improved our ball movement. By playing so much around each other we understood each of our teammates game which made us so successful. We were a completely different team at the end of the year.
What was the biggest obstacle you and your team faced this season?rn-The biggest obstacle we faced this year was being down players in a few of our league games mid season. This was hard because we were missing some starters that brought a lot to the team, but it only made us better because it allowed players to show what they had to bring which ended up helping us in future games. Not having some of our go to players in those crucial games helped give our bench players some high pressure game experience which helped with their confidence and our teams confidence overall.
What do you think you improved most on the court?rn-Something I improved the most on the court was my mental growth which helped me built confidence in myself. My role this year was much bigger than last years which gave me the opportunity to play more free, and show the things I could bring to help our team succeed without letting my mental get in the way. The offense we run really fits the type of player I am and because of this I’m a completely different player than I was last year.
What are you looking to improve before next season?rn-Our seniors this year constantly proved they were great shooters and that’s something we’ll miss next season for sure so something I’ve been working on this off season and AAU season is looking for my shot more often. Along with that, our seniors were great leaders, and losing 3 captions means someone needs to step into those roles to lead the team and continue playing how we did last season.
Who are some teammates that you think stood out this season? Who are some teammates who could have breakout years next year in your eyes?rn-Our team was full of talent, Natalia Sefair Lopez hit some really important shots during our state run and had one of the best three point percentages in the whole state tournament and I feel like I saw so much growth in her. kay Jackson also played through a knee injury most of our season and a lot of players wouldn’t risk getting more injured, but she wouldn’t let anything get in the way of playing at state and bringing so much energy at all times. Tatum wood has also been working so hard during her ACL recovery and started this AAU season strong, and I know next season will be huge for her, and I can’t wait to play my last year of high school ball with her.

A state title and the leading scorer in the title game helped bump her up in the rankings. The smooth lefty plays hard and has a great skill-set with a soft touch on her jumper. She is deadly in the mid-range and book it at the free throw line. She should make waves next season with the loss of leading scorer and tournament MVP

Sofia is a great athlete and her speed sets her apart with the ability to get end to end in a hurry. She has a nice, soft shooting touch and is especially dangerous in the mid-range game. She is a very capable three-point shooting guard although she didn’t shoot them as much as I would have thought. She rebounds extremely well for her size, using that athleticism to get it and go. She averaged just over 15 points a game and helped lead her team to the Class 4A state title, scoring a game-high 24 points. She plays hard and will be one of the top players in the state next season.
