There is no doubt Minnesota produces some of the best players in the Midwest, but don’t count the Dakota out. If you follow Basketball, you’ll find a ton of players in this state just stacked with talent and abilities that are impressive. If you take a look at the Class “A” teams in the East and the West and dig into stats of the players, you would be surprised at the fact some of the Sophomores are leading the way over Juniors and Seniors. Let’s take a look at a few of the Sophomores that are coming out swinging this year.
Brooklynn Felchle Brooklynn Felchle 6'3" | C Bismarck Legacy | 2025 State ND : 6’3 C Legacy- You simply cannot write on the class of 2025 and not mention Brooklynn. As a freshman Felchle came off the bench and slowly worked her way into the feel of the fast-paced varsity game and really started to take off. Last year she appeared in 17 games, averaged 5.7ppg, put up 125 points and accounted for 100 rebounds. Towards the end of the year, you could see the hype around her future was going to be big, and she was going to be a bigtime player for the Sabers. Now, let’s take it to this year where she really broke out, and has been a focal point on the floor. This year Felchle is averaging 17.4ppg, 9.2rpg and is shooting 69.9% from the floor, no that is not a typo…..she is leading the state in FG% connecting on 128/183 shot attempts. Her improvement from last year is off the charts, and she is having a breakout year as I anticipated earlier this summer. Felchle has great size to her at 6’3, moves well around the paint and goes up very strong with her shots around the rim, not to mention she is fluid and knows how to make those baskets count. There is no question she is one of the top 5 players in the State for 2025, and she will only get better and better. As for this year, I would say she is All-Conference without a doubt, and will be a big candidate for an All-State selection.
Lauren Reardon Lauren Reardon 5'10" | SG Grand Forks Central | 2025 State ND : 5’8 G Grand Forks Central- Reardon may not be the biggest on the court, but she knows how to make every play count and is a leader on the floor across the board. Last year she made a name for herself as being one of the best guards in the EDC and one of the top players in the class of 2025. Reardon is a smooth, quick footed athletic player that has a motor on her that does not quit, or slow down. She’s a proven shooter from anywhere on the floor and doubles as a playmaker as well. So far this year Reardon has led the way in nearly every statical category for Grand Forks Central including rebounds, points, 3-pointers made, assists, steals and FT%. There is no question she is a high caliber player that has all the abilities to play at the next level, and she will be a name in the EDC to remember the next couple years.
Jaiden Haile: 6’3 C WF Horace- Haile was one of the players we were all very curious about, and how she would handle her first year playing Varsity Basketball in the opening year for West Fargo Horace. She came in with size, talent, skill and as tough of a player as you can get, and she has not disappointed anyone watching to say the least. So far in her first year for the Horace Hawks she has been nothing short of impressive across the board. Haile is a rebounding machine leading the EDC and the State in total rebounds with 204 and averaging 12.8rpg, you can say she knows how to “rip um down”. On top of her rebounding abilities, she is also incredibly skilled around the rim and getting second chance points off the glass and posting up in the paint knocking down 5-7′ shots for an easy 2 points. Currently she is also one of the best FG% in the EDC at 52% and I don’t see that number decreasing by much the rest of the season, she’s proven herself and like the others, she will only get better. She already holds an offer from the University of North Dakota, and with her summer being spent in Minnesota with the North Tartan 16U team, you can expect her to come back next year ready to put up even bigger numbers, and even more skilled. Keep an eye on her, she is one of the best in 2025!
Ziah GreyBull Ziah GreyBull 5'8" | CG Mandan | 2025 State ND : 5’8 G Century: Ziah is new to Century and the WDA as she came in this summer from Idaho, but I knew right away she was not only going to be a help to the Patriots, but she would become a big player in the WDA along the way. Ziah may not be the biggest scorer on the floor, but the way she sees the court and her ability to find an open teammate really sets her apart of the rest. Ziah is a genuine play maker and does a great job at slowing the game down or kicking it into high gear and making plays happen. One of her best abilities aside from passing is her ball handling skills, and her speed up and down the floor. Ziah seems to have a motor that does not stop or get tired, she’s always involved and makes herself known on the court offensively and defensively alike. So far this year she has connected on 15/31 3-Point shots, tallied up 33 assists and averages 5.1ppg. Her skills are there, the drive to be great is there and she has all the abilities under her belt to be a big player in the WDA/State. You’ll hear more about her this year, and the next 2 years I can guarantee that. I think we can all appreciate a tough gritty guard that can play, and as an added bonus…..we all love watching left-handed shooters! College Coaches…keep her on your radar.
Scout Woods Scout Woods 5'10" | SF Wahpeton | 2025 State ND : 5’10 G Wahpeton- One thing that stands out about Scout is her work ethic on and off the court. She’s the type of player like many top athletes, that put’s endless hours in the gym perfecting her Shot, or Golf Swing. Scout is all-around athletic and has the skills to play numerous sports at the next level, but in regard to Basketball, she is one of the top players in the Class of 2025 without question. If her freshman year wasn’t impressive enough her sophomore year is just as impressive to say the least. So far this year she’s shooting 40% from the field and has put up 254 points with plenty of more games left in the season. On the floor there isn’t really anything she can’t do, whether it’s passing, shooting, rebounding or knocking down free-throws she makes it all look second nature. She along with the rest in this article is another top-level athlete that will be making an impact on the floor in the East for quite some time, Shes talented and the hype is real. What she has done already is impressive, what she is will do down the road…..is scary to think about.
