The 2022-23 High School season is coming to an end this week, here are some of the top performing guards in the class of 2025.
V’Davrielle “DaeDae” Johnson V’Davrielle “DaeDae” Johnson 5'7" | CG Gateway | 2025 State FL (Fort Myers) – 5’8 Guard
Keep an eye on Johnson as she is one of the most athletic players in the state and is a major stock riser. On the season she shot 50% from the field, 6.7 rebounds, 3.7 steals, to go along with 10.9 points per game! She can pressure the ball, fly through passing lanes and put the ball in the basket attacking the rim aggressively off the bounce.
Ari Woodard (Lake Highland Prep) – 6’0 Guard
Woodard is back on the court and healthy. She can run the PG position by aggressively pushing the tempo, changing speeds, attacking from the wing and finished on balance in the paint. She can play both guard positions by handling pressure and sliding over to the shooting guard and becoming more of a scorer. Woodard is skilled, athletic, talented, and plays with steady emotions, never getting too high, never getting too low. She will play a big role in LHP taking home another state championship this week.
Azzariah Styles Azzariah Styles 5'6" | CG Plant | 2025 State FL (HB Plant HS) – 5’6 Guard
Styles is a strong, quick guard who is an aggressive penetrator. She has a quick first step, can attack going both left and right and has great court vision setting up her teammates for easy shots. She plays hard, aggressive and with consistent energy. She is a pesky defender who does a good job picking up opposing point guards in the back court applying pressure and making it hard for them to set up their teams offense.
Janiah Suprius Janiah Suprius 5'5" | CG Seminole Ridge | 2025 State FL (Seminole Ridge) – 5’7 Guard
Suprius is a strong, stocky point guard who was consistent all season for Seminole Ridge leading the team in points (14.1), assists (3.8), and steals (2.9). Her strong build is a matchup nightmare for opposing teams because she uses her broad shoulders, strong lower base, and mass to get into the paint, absorb contact and finish at the rim and get to the free throw line.
Jim’miyah Branton (SLAM! Miami) – 5’7 Guard
Branton is one of the state’s most elite athletes and after missing most of the first half of the season came back strong in the second half of the season, leading SLAM into playoff contention. She is super quick, active and aggressive and can score from anywhere on the court. She is fun to watch on both ends of the court because she covers a ton of ground, flies all over the court, and impacts the game on both ends of the floor.
Samantha Bautista Samantha Bautista 5'7" | CG SLAM! (Miami) | 2025 State FL (SLAM! Miami) – 5’7 Guard
Bautista is long and wiry and is very good with ball in her hands. She changes speed exceptionally well and utilizes a hesitation move to get by her defenders and into the paint creating 3v2 and 2v1 situations. When Bautista is not blowing by defenders in the open court, she is an exceptional outside shooter with deep range.
Lena Girardi Lena Girardi 5'10" | SF IMG Academy | 2025 State FL (Westminster Academy) – 5’9 Guard
Girardi is tough and a matchup nightmare on the offensive end of the floor for opposing teams. She consistently had big scoring games all throughout the season making WA one of the top teams in the state of Florida all season. At 5’9, she scores a large majority of her points in the paint and at the rim, attacking off the dribble and using her build to score vs contact or get to the free throw line.
Olivia Olson Olivia Olson 5'10" | SF Mainland | 2025 State FL (Spruce Creek) – 5’6 Guard
Olson is a big skilled guard who led Spruce Creek to an impressive 23-6 record averaging 15.4 points per game. Olson shoots it well from the 3-point line, is a high percentage finisher in the paint and gets to the free throw line often. Not just an offensive player, Olson gets after it equally as hard on the defensive end of the floor, consistently running through passing lanes and applying aggressive pressure to opposing teams ball handlers.
Markeli Jones-Tynes Markeli Jones-Tynes 5'9" | PG Westminster Academy | 2025 State FL (Westminster Academy) – 5’9 Guard
Jones-Tynes move to Westminster Academy allowed her to showcase her ability to play both guard positions. She did a great job playing both distributor and playmaker throughout the season. Her strong and athletic build looks similar to that of a college player capable of using her size, strength and athleticism to impose her will on opposing defenders. She has a high basketball IQ, great court vision, shoots a high percentage from the field, and plays unselfish consistently giving the ball up to open players.
