Amari Baldwin will almost certainly reach the 1000 point milestone early in her junior season as she was close to hitting it this year. Anyone who has her on their team wants the ball in her hands, but what makes her really fun to watch is how much she moves without the ball finding the gaps to put up her shot off the pass. On defense, she’s incredibly disruptive getting in the way of passes and slowing down offenses even running the lead on full court presses. She easily takes steals the other direction for some fast break points.
Highlights
Bianca Robinson is Baldwin’s teammate running things from the block. She can easily grab a defensive board and make the full court pass to her teammate filling in the lane for a fast break. Her power dribbles are effective getting into the best position to put the ball through the hoop. On defense, she uses every bit of her length to block shots and protect the basket preventing anyone from scoring around her.
Jasmine Brown finishes out the sophomore trio we have from Albemarle. She is a hustler getting back on defense being able to block shots in transition. On offensive fast breaks, she is ready for the pass barreling down the lane ready to put up the shot in the paint. It’s definitely a normal thing for her to get a double-double sealing off her opponents for the entry pass and boxing them out for the rebound. She does a nice job getting the ball on the block, drawing defenders, and finding her open teammate around the perimeter for the shot.
Paisley Boatright has some phenomenal fundamentals, especially when it comes to boxing out opponents and going up high for the rebound. On offense, she can play anywhere on the court running the ball through her around the perimeter or getting inside to get some points of her own. Her long strides are effective pushing the ball up the court for some solo fast breaks off of defense rebounds.
Hailey McFadden had a dominant season with East Lincoln winning player of the year for her conference. She was a big reason the Mustangs made it to the “Final Four” in the high school 3A state championships. With her length and height, she makes sure to make her hands a big target for the entry pass, and she has a variety of post moves that she uses to turn and shot. Her quick close out is an asset being able to block shots easily around the perimeter as well as on the block.
Talia Edmond seems to understand the importance of filling the gaps on both ends of the court. She finds the openings sliding into them on offense to be ready to score, or she can slide into help position on defense making sure her opponents don’t find an opening. She hustles on fast breaks being ready for the pass herself or to grab the offensive rebound to use for a second chance opportunity.
