This year, Keira suffered an injury that robbed her of a lot of time, but when healthy, she’s one of the best players in NOVA. She has an elite combination of size and skill and has recently committed to Syracuse. Keira can play both forward positions and has a lethal pull from the free-throw line area. She finishes well with either hand, and her length makes her a hard cover when she’s attacking.
I’ve watched a lot of Raigan Mccalla this year, and she’s been impressive. She is an outstanding spot-up shooter and terrific off-the-ball. She is a high IQ player, and her skillset will translate well to the next level.
Nyla Brooks Nyla Brooks 6’2″ | SF Bishop Ireton | 2025 State VA might be the most gifted player in NOVA. She missed time with an injury, but she was electric when she was on the court. Nyla has an incredible mix of length and skill and has put in some monster performances this year. She has a great mid-range jump shot and does great around the rim. She averaged 18.5 PPG and 6.1 RPG. She is a future lady volunteer and one of the best players in the area.
An underrated ability to have early in your basketball career is showing great importance without being the focal part of your team’s offense. That is what Riley Hamburger Riley Hamburger 6’0″ | SG Paul VI | 2025 State VA does a great job of, especially as a sophomore. She is a fantastic defender and often guards the other team’s best wing or guard. She is good in transition, and her jump shot is coming along.
Sarah Pritz Sarah Pritz 5’11” | SF Lake Braddock | 2024 State VA had a steady season for Lake Braddock this year. Sarah is a versatile basketball player, and there is a lot to like about her game. She shoots the ball well and is an active defender and a tremendous rebounder. She’s listed as only 5’10, but she plays bigger than that. She can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim when defenders run her off the three-point line, and she had some huge performances this year. She was the first team all region and will get some more offers this summer.
Bishop Ireton was banged up this season, and Sophomore wing Amirah Anderson Amirah Anderson 5’10” | SF Bishop Ireton | 2025 State VA helped keep them afloat. She had a massive month in January and was one of the most improved players this year. Amirah is a very comfortable shooter, and it could benefit her to take more of them. She’s a fantastic rebounder and a great overall scorer. She averaged 16.2 PPG and 8.8 RPG.
Highlights
Tuscarora was terrific all year, and the biggest reason for that was their ability to force turnovers and turn their defense into offense. The most significant contributor to that was Alysa Carrigan Alysa Carrigan 5’11” | SF Tuscarora | 2024 State VA . She has excellent hands and used her length to get into passing lanes. She had a game against Louisa County in the VHSL Class 4 semis, where she had a staggering 13 steals. She rebounds well and always provides a lift with her passing and scoring.
Highlights
Caitlin Crump Caitlin Crump 5’10” | CG Oakton HS | 2023 State VA is a complete basketball player who did everything for Oakton this year. She was tremendous this year, especially during the first few months of the year. Oakton’s defense was why they had such a great year this year, and I thought Crump was phenomenal on that end
Sarah Link
Sarah Link
Sarah Link isn’t a traditional wing, but this was where she best fit. She’s listed as a small forward, but her role offensively is position-less at times. I’ve seen her be a facilitator and find her teammates, and I’ve also seen her spot-up and knock-down shots. She can guard multiple positions and is excellent, like the rest of the James Madison squad. For how good Madison is, I don’t think any of them get the credit they deserve as individuals.
