With some of the top talent in not only the area but several PGH Texas Top 100 players, the National 17U squad gave me a glimpse of what's coming this season. [player_tooltip player_id='794441' first='Mariyah' last='Brown'] and Holly Horton were not in attendance in fact with exception of 2025 players [player_tooltip player_id='385702' first='Andrea' last='Sturdivant'] and [player_tooltip player_id='385703' first='Bree' last='Riley'], this whole team is loaded with 2024s, one more time, I look for NEW FACES and PROGRESSION from those I have already seen

[player_tooltip player_id='158878' first='Aniah' last='Alexis']

Alexis showed me during the end of the regular season she was back to her pre-injury self, well she's been back, I just hadn't seen her and since I first caught her drop 40 in the 8th grade, it's not the fact that she dropped 40, it's how she did it and that was on a variety of ways to put the ball into the basket. Her range is, well when she crosses halfcourt, she attacks and finishes strongly after contact but her court vision, on-the-ball defense, rebounding, and what else, playing the passing lane spoke volumes

[player_tooltip player_id='793217' first='Mychal' last='White']

White was a key part of Summer Creek's successful season as she was a terror defensively, from baseline to baseline her "on the ball" pressure was smothering yet there were several games I saw her come through in the clutch, either by scoring, hitting her teammate with a key pass or coming up with a huge rebound or steal. On Sunday, her acrobatic finishes coupled with good body control had me smiling

Charlize Williams

Williams stands around the magic number, which is 6'0, yet the magic really starts around the basket as uses her "hands and footwork" which will always be #THROWBACK to finish around the basket. She rebounded on both ends and even finished on putbacks after the lick but her interior defense was nice, she even showed she could step outside of the paint and defend but let me also add that she's "long and athletic" and played the passing lane

[player_tooltip player_id='793208' first='Crystal' last='Schultz']

Schultz has definitely shown progression as she attacked the basket strongly with either hand and finished the same way, with either hand. Her powerful first step played a part in that yet she also finished after the lick and when you factor in she creates her shot under pressure to drop the jumper, it gave her options. She has good court vision, plays the passing lane, and did a good job defending "on the ball"

[player_tooltip player_id='861390' first='Emma' last='Rowan']

I wrote SDM, which is my acronym for #sizedontmatter, yeah I HASHTAG it because that too is THROWBACK. She dove for loose balls, outrebounded taller players and just got after it yet her intensity and desire along with her scoring on putbacks had me SMH. She also showed she could not only drop the jumper but do so with a hand in her face

[player_tooltip player_id='385702' first='Andrea' last='Sturdivant']

Sturdivant has always left me speechless, in the 5th grade I dropped that #D1Lock on her as she was poised under pressure playing against high school ballers. She falls into that "never takes a play off" type of player, on either end and her creating havoc defensively forces turnovers yet her running her team and setting teammates up for baskets was nice. Don't get it twisted, she can leave defenders cemented to the floor with her explosiveness and mid to long-range, check and double-check

[player_tooltip player_id='385703' first='Bree' last='Riley']

Riley has taken her game to another level and I caught her a couple of weeks ago going completely OFF, like dropping 20 in the first half. At the event, the HEZ, the COD, change of direction was also another COD, cash on delivery as she defied gravity with some of her finishes, yes acrobatically but her stop and pop in transition were more than nice as well as her pull-up in the set. She handled the ball and saw the floor under pressure and did a good job defensively
