The Sun Sentinel recently came out with their post season all county awards, naming American Heritage Plantation Freshman Jasleen Green Jasleen Green 5'9" | SF American Heritage (Plantation) | 2026 State FL Broward County 1A-5A Player of the Year.
American Heritage has had quite the run of success during the past 10 years and Jasleen Green Jasleen Green 5'9" | SF American Heritage (Plantation) | 2026 State FL stepped right in as a Freshman and kept the tradition going averaging a team high 21 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals per game and coming up just two points shy of helping lead her Patriots squad to a sixth consecutive state championship.
Green stepped into big shoes as a Freshman this season for American Heritage and immediately made her presence known and becoming the player to stop game in and game out. Although just a Freshman, her body, build and athleticism are mature for her age lining up next to players 2-3 years older than her and not giving up height or weight vs older players. She is a strong perimeter player who can play multiple guard positions and is a nature scorer. Her offensive skill set is mature for her age and she can score both off the bounce and from beyond the 3-point line.
She plays unselfish, seeing the court well and using her court vision and passing skills to lead her teammates for easy baskets and break pressure both with the pass and off the bounce. Her strong, mature build combined with her athleticism and quick first step allow her to attack off the bounce and get by her defender and into the paint to either score at the rim or create a shot for her teammates.
She plays very under control, never getting to high and never getting too low. As teams threw various defenses at her throughout the season, she remained cool, calm and collected on the court consistently. She has a ton of potential and taking home player of the year as a Freshman becomes the player to watch and to stop in Broward county for the next 3 years!!!!
Asked her thoughts on the season and winning the award, Green had this to say:
“It was definitely a different, because it was my first year but I also like being in that position because in the future I am going to have to do that anyway. It was a great experience. I learned to never give up and just keep going. I hope to continue to be player of the year and win state championships my last three years. I am extremely honored and humbled because I have worked extremely hard to get to where I am and to make a name for myself.”
