New Jersey Girls Basketball Recruiting Update: 3/13

<p>This is a long overdue recruiting update in New Jersey as things got hectic and crazy with state playoffs going on. However, with those now done, the attention turns to the AAU circuit and to recruiting. There have been some players over the past few weeks or so to commit, take official visits or receive offers, which we'll discuss in this article.</p>   <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='482249' first='Casey' last='Prior'] - Red Bank Catholic (2023) commits to Fairfield</strong></p>   <p>The most recent bit of recruiting news came from 2023 guard [player_tooltip player_id='482249' first='Casey' last='Prior'], the Red Bank Catholic mainstay, who announced her commitment to play at Fairfield on March 10.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/CaseyPrior2/status/1634301795387285505?s=20 </div></figure>   <p>The shooting guard will be a preferred walk-on at Fairfield, but put together quite the career from deep for the Caseys, hitting 133 three-pointers in her career. Just over the past two seasons alone, Prior has made 92 in 56 games.</p>   <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='325212' first='Eva' last='Andrews'] - Paul VI (2024) offered by William & Mary</strong></p>   <p>Andrews has burst onto the scene in the past few years for Paul VI and she's deservedly gotten a number of offers, including her most recent one from William & Mary on March 7.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/Eva_Andrews_42/status/1633130026915844097?s=20 </div></figure>   <p>In her two seasons with Paul VI, Andrews has totaled nearly 500 points and has hit 89 three-pointers in 51 games. She reached the 100 career three-point mark in her last game of the season against St. John Vianney.</p>   <p><strong>CJ Jones - Williamstown (2023) commits to Salem CC</strong></p>   <p>An under-the-radar commitment from a great program, Jones will be staying local, taking her talents to Salem Community College.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/salemccwbb/status/1631371099832307719?s=20 </div></figure>   <p>She's been a mainstay down on the post for the Braves and she had a career year this season across the board. Salem is an up-and-coming program in the state and they'll be getting a key contributor for the coming future in Jones.</p>   <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='404202' first='Jada' last='Elston'] - Middle Township (2023) commits to Kean </strong></p>   <p>Following a senior season that resulted in Middle Township reaching the NJSIAA Group II semifinals, guard [player_tooltip player_id='404202' first='Jada' last='Elston'] announced her commitment to play at Kean University.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/jada_elston/status/1631769391657283586?s=20 </div></figure>   <p>Elston has been the backbone for Middle Township for several years now, recently reaching 1000 career points along with a number of postseason accolades. In the last two seasons alone, the guard has scored over 1000 points and sunk 98 three-pointers in 58 games. This season, she finished averaging 17.5 PPG.</p>   <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='406940' first='Te'Yala' last='Delfosse'] - Ewing (2024) offered by Fairfield</strong></p>   <p>The newest member of Ewing's 1000 point club, Delfosse added another offer to her current list as it was posted on February 21 that she received an offer from Fairfield.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/TeamSharp23/status/1628213265993023490?s=20 </div></figure>   <p>Delfosse was one of the best offensive players in North Jersey last season, averaging 15.8 PPG and 7.6 RPG along with 1.3 made three-pointers. She filled up the stat sheet across the board, also averaging just under two blocks a game and just over 3.6 steals a game for the Blue Devils, who won the Group III title over Randolph.</p>   <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='333309' first='Daniella' last='Matus'] - Morris Catholic (2025) offered by Seton Hall, Delaware</strong></p>   <p>The sophomore phenom for Morris Catholic has two more Division 1 offers she can add to the table as guard [player_tooltip player_id='333309' first='Daniella' last='Matus'] was offered by Seton Hall and Delaware in late February.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/mcgirlshoops/status/1627847317645582336?s=20 </div></figure>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/mcgirlshoops/status/1627451007830487041?s=20 </div></figure>   <p>Matus was fantastic once again for the Crusaders this season, averaging 13.3 PPG against a tougher overall schedule while knocking down 74 three-pointers. She's hit 70+ three pointers each of her first two seasons at Morris Catholic and has over 150 in her career. Matus also took an unofficial visit at Rutgers recently.</p>   <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='489005' first='Maya' last='Summerville'] - Morristown (2024) offered by Loyola (Md.)</strong></p>   <p>Summerville has been steadily working her way up the totem pole in her high school career and she was deservedly rewarded with her first-ever college offer from Loyola (Md.) on February 18.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/MayaSummerville/status/1627053711683129344?s=20 </div></figure>   <p>The junior had a career year this season, just missing out on a double-double average with 12.3 PPG and 9.9 RPG. Her defense was spectacular, averaging 3.65 blocks a game and 2.7 steals a game while setting career-bests in three-point shooting and assists, averaging 2.7 a game.</p>   <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='404217' first='Amanda' last='Castro'] - Marlboro (2023) commits to Montclair State</strong></p>   <p>Over the last month, Castro was one of the first players since our last update to make her commitment official, announcing on February 15 her commitment to play at Montclair State.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/amandaa_castr0/status/1626048750278873090?s=20 </div></figure>   <p>Castro's best seasons have come in her last two seasons, peaking at the right time for Marlboro. In that time, she's scored over 450 points, hit 78 three-pointers and recorded over 210 rebounds and 115 steals. She averaged a career-high 12.7 PPG as a senior.</p>   <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='525477' first='Precious' last='Wheeler'] - Franklin (2025) offered by Seton Hall</strong></p>   <p>An under-the-radar forward in New Jersey, but someone who's getting plenty of notoriety in North Jersey, Wheeler announced on February 27 that she received an offer from Seton Hall.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/its_gem0408/status/1630175346220847105?s=20 </div></figure>   <p>Wheeler had a fantastic sophomore season for Franklin, recording nearly 2.8 steals a game while averaging just under 10.0 PPG and 7.6 RPG. She posted three double-doubles during the season and is poised for many more in her high school career.</p>
