2022-23 All-HCIAL First Team

[player_tooltip player_id='333551' first='Janaya' last='Meyers'] - Bayonne (2025)

Meyers' first season at Bayonne ended in a state title for the Bees, and she was the backbone of that state championship-winning squad, averaging 11.2 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 3.4 APG and 2.5 SPG in 33 games. That includes averaging 14.0 PPG, 8.0 RPG and 3.8 APG in her final four games of the season. Bayonne needed to be represented on this list, so who better to represent the Bees than Meyers.

[player_tooltip player_id='414293' first='Jaida' last='Guerra'] - Union City (2025) *2022-23 HCIAL Player of the Year

Picking a Player of the Year in the HCIAL was one of the toughest decisions that we've made, but through looking at the entire conference, Guerra stood out for her offensive prowess alone, averaging a league-high 17.8 PPG in 27 games this season. Along with that, averaging over two rebounds and assists a game, as well as over three steals a game and two made three-pointers a game, she was electric in every sense of the word.

[player_tooltip player_id='325193' first='Jaylyn' last='Orefice'] - Union City (2024)

Orefice was the frontcourt pairing to Guerra that was absolutely fantastic this season. Averaging 15.2 PPG and 7.6 RPG, as well as over two assists a game and 1.9 SPG for Union City, she recorded career-highs across the board and became one of the best forwards in the league this season without a doubt.

[player_tooltip player_id='404231' first='Ava' last='Hyams'] - Kearny (2023)

Hyams was oh so close to winning the Player of the Year for us, putting together an incredible season for Kearny, averaging 15.2 PPG, 8.4 RPG, 1.8 made three-pointers a game and 2.5 SPG in her senior year. She just missed out on averaging a double-double, but improved her offensive production and became a more consistent perimeter shooter as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='404232' first='Maci' last='Covello'] - Kearny (2023)

Covello and Hyams created arguably the best duo in the HCIAL this season with Covello averaging 14.8 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 2.3 APG, 1.2 BPG and 1.6 SPG, setting career-highs in scoring, rebounding, passing and blocks as a senior. What a better time to have her best season than in her last high school season.

[player_tooltip player_id='414298' first='Alyssa' last='Stridiron'] - St. Dominic (2025)

The 2022-23 season was one that expanded upon the success of Stridiron for St. Dominic as she averaged 12.4 APG, 3.4 RPG, 3.4 APG, 2.1 SPG and nearly one made three-pointer a game. Her three-point average skyrocketed along with seemingly more confidence shooting beyond the arc, but more important has been her overall consistency over the past two seasons. Big things are still yet to come for the sophomore.
