With the 2022-2023 IHSAA girls’ basketball season in the rearview mirror, and with the all-state awards for each classification having been handed out, I wanted to finish highlighting several ladies from different areas of the state. Below is a look at a handful of ladies who stood out during the 2022-2023 season in Indianapolis/Marion County.
Cristen Carter

Ben Davis | 2023
State
IN
, 2023, 6-3 C, Ben Davis H.S.
– The amount of growth Cristen has shown over her four years has been tremendous. This season, she really put it together at the offensive end of the floor, making herself nearly impossible to defend at times. She has a strong frame, great length, and she’s a nice athlete at her size, plus she plays with a motor. She can become an elite defender as well. Cristen will play at Miami University (OH) next season.

Cathedral | 2023
State

, 2023, 6-0 F, Cathedral H.S.
– Layla had a fantastic Senior season, and she used that to earn a spot on the Indiana All-Star Team. She is extremely long, fluidly athletic, somewhat bouncy, and very active. She is great in the mid-post, she can play exclusively around the perimeter if necessary and knock down jumpers, but she also glides almost seamlessly to the basket in one dribble. She will play at Valparaiso University next year.
Malaysha Flanagan

George Washington | 2024
IN
, 2024, 5-9 F, George Washington H.S.
– Malaysha is another prospect the state knows very little about. She has a solid to strong frame, she’s a nice athlete, plus she plays with a really nice motor and outplays her size. Malaysha is good around the basket, but she’s great in the mid-post. She led the Continentals with 18.8 ppg, 9.1 rpg, and 4.4 spg. If she can shoot it more consistently from the perimeter, that would really help her relieve some pressure.

Arsenal Technical | 2024
State
IN
, 2024, 5-6 G, Arsenal Technical H.S.
– Kayla is somewhat of an unknown on a statewide level, but she put up big numbers for the Lady Titans this Winter. She can play on the ball, off the ball, and on the wing. She is also a nice athlete who outplays her size. Kayla averaged 21.4 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 2.7 apg, and 2.3 spg, showing the great versatility I previously mentioned. I would like to see her against some of the state’s best, because she has some ability.
Mylee Boling, 2025, 5-10 F, Beech Grove H.S.
– Mylee was really good for the Lady Hornets this Winter, and she flashed a great deal of potential to only get better moving forward. She posses nice length, a wiry-strong frame, and she’s a versatile athlete as well. She averaged a double-double with 15.4 ppg and 11.4 rpg, plus she picked off 3.0 spg. If she can expand her game to the perimeter, she could be a really nice small college prospect.

State
IN
, 2025, 6-1 W, Lawrence Central H.S.
– Jaylah is an elite talent, and she has such a versatile skillset that she is able to fulfill any number of roles. She is tall enough and strong enough that she can play around the basket, but she’s also skilled enough that she can play exclusively around the perimeter. She has an athletic frame, a quick first step, and a really nice mid-range game. She has already earned her share of offers, and she will be fun to watch this Spring.
Kamrah Banks

Crispus Attucks | 2026
State
IN
, 2026, 5-9 PG, Decatur Central H.S.
– Kamrah came into high school with a great deal of fanfare, and she didn’t disappoint in year-one. She is a strong, long, and athletic point guard who is tremendous off the bounce. She can get downhill in a hurry, and she does a nice job of absorbing and finishing through contact. She has also worked on her mid-range game, so next to come should be her perimeter shot. She has a slew of offers already, as well.
Audra Kendall

Brebeuf Jesuit | 2026
IN
, 2026, 5-5 G, Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School
– Audra came in a did a really nice job of adding some stability to the backcourt for Brebeuf. She is able to play either guard position, and she actually led them in scoring at 9.8 ppg. She added 3.3 rpg and 2.1 apg as well, plus she showed some potential as a perimeter shooter. Look for Audra to step into a leadership role next season, as four of their top five scorers this year were Freshmen or Sophomores.
