Guards Impress at Cornerstone Elite Camp

The guards at Friday's Cornerstone Elite Camp had plenty of opportunities to showcase their skill sets throughout an afternoon filled with player development and live competition. From the skill sessions and shooting drills to 1-on-1 matchups and 5-on-5 action, the camp tested players in a variety of situations. Several guards stood out with their ability to create offense, knock down shots, defend at a high level, and make smart decisions with the basketball, making for an impressive group of backcourt performers.    Marissa put together an outstanding performance at the Cornerstone Elite Camp, earning an offer from the coaching staff by the end of the day. During the live 5-on-5 sessions, she consistently put pressure on the defense with her explosive first step, attacking downhill and blowing past defenders to create scoring opportunities. She also showed excellent chemistry with her teammates on a well-executed give-and-go and stretched the floor by knocking down multiple shots from beyond the arc. In the 1-on-1 competition, Marissa's speed and quickness were on full display as she repeatedly created separation and got to the basket. Her ability to score at all three levels while creating problems for defenders made her one of the top guards at the camp.     Allie is a guard who put together a productive showing during the live 5-on-5 action at the Cornerstone Elite Camp. She displayed her shooting range by knocking down multiple three-pointers and also showed the ability to create her own offense with a smooth pull-up jumper. Allie attacked the basket with confidence, getting downhill and putting pressure on the defense. She also contributed on the glass, crashing in for rebounds and converting an offensive putback. Her ability to score from multiple areas of the floor while contributing as a rebounder made for a well-rounded performance.     Chloe turned in an outstanding performance at the Cornerstone Elite Camp. She was one of the top shooters during the skill work, consistently knocking down shots throughout the shooting portion of the camp. In the live 5-on-5 action, Chloe showcased her scoring ability with a step-back three from the top of the key and capped one half with an impressive buzzer-beating shot from half court. She also attacked the basket effectively, using her handle to get downhill and create scoring opportunities. On the defensive end, Chloe's active hands led to multiple steals, allowing her to impact the game on both sides of the floor. Her combination of shot-making, playmaking, and defensive intensity made for an exceptional all-around showing.     Myla put together an impressive performance at the Cornerstone Elite Camp, showcasing her ability to create offense in multiple settings. She excelled during the 1-on-1 competition, consistently getting to the basket and finishing efficiently around the rim. In the live 5-on-5 sessions, Myla continued to put pressure on the defense with her explosive first step, beating defenders off the dribble and attacking the paint with confidence. She displayed good court vision by drawing two defenders before finding an open teammate, and she added a crafty step-through finish along with a strong baseline drive that resulted in another basket. Myla's combination of quickness, body control, and finishing ability allowed her to make a consistent impact throughout the camp.       Carley turned in a strong all-around performance at the Cornerstone Elite Camp, impacting the game on both ends of the floor. She shot the ball with confidence throughout the shooting portion of the skill work, carrying that momentum into the live 5-on-5 sessions where she knocked down multiple shots from beyond the arc. Carley also showcased her athleticism with an impressive block and used active hands on defense to force turnovers. In transition, she sprinted the floor for several easy baskets and turned a steal into a coast-to-coast score. Her ability to shoot, defend, and create offense in the open floor made for an impressive showing throughout the afternoon.     Sami put together an outstanding performance at the Cornerstone Elite Camp, earning an offer from the coaching staff after an impressive day. She showcased excellent court vision, consistently making the right reads and delivering quality passes to create scoring opportunities for her teammates. Defensively, Sami competed with energy and discipline, making life difficult for opposing guards. Offensively, she attacked the basket with confidence, finishing a strong drive at the rim and converting an offensive rebound into a second-chance basket. Sami also did an excellent job getting to two feet in the paint, allowing her to play under control and make smart decisions once she entered the lane. Her all-around game and ability to impact every possession made her one of the top guard performers at the camp.
