Lampley, who’s been honored as a McDonald’s All-American, Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year, and Mississippi State commit, is going to be something else in the Southeastern Conference next fall! Incredible next level athleticism on both ends of the court. I love her leadership, on ball pressure defense, and lethal shooting!

The one thing you can be sure of is that Jaylah is going to outwork her matchup each time out. She has a strong frame with length, and she has become a matchup problem because of her perimeter skill at her size. She has really become a much more consistent shooter over the past year and a half, but she can also do some things off the dribble. If that isn’t enough, she can dominate the mid-post, rebound, and defend multiple positions. All in all, I feel like she continues to make her game more efficient each season.

Jaylah’s progression over the years has been interesting to watch. When she was younger, she would use the dribble quite a bit, but she also challenged smaller defenders inside with her size and length. Then, over the past 15-18 months, she really found consistency in her shooting stroke outside, and she hurt opponents that way. Now she has figured out how to utilize all of her tools at each level and she can pick & choose how she wants to dissect opponents as a tall, athletic, versatile wing.

Jaylah carried over her Saturday play to Sunday, and she stood out to be one of the best prospects at the entire event. She just does so many different things for her team that she’s always contributing, and she does so with a great motor. Her jumper forces you to close out tight, but she can put it on the floor, plus she gets inside on the cut and can post or rebound.

Jaylah is one of the most versatile, multilevel scorers in the state. She has very good size at 6-2, she has touch outside, a great mid-range game, and she is a highly effective rebounder. Saturday, she pulled out the entire toolbox and was instrumental in their wins. She also used her height/length well defensively, and she handled it quite a bit and created offense for everyone in transition.

I really enjoy watching Jaylah play, as she can do so many different things at all three levels. Her ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter has improved so much over the past year, plus she has nice size, strength, and athleticism. You really have to choose what part of her game you are going to concentrate on taking away. When she isn’t hitting shots or driving the ball to the rim, she can take smaller defenders to the block and score inside, plus she’s a highly effective rebounder. When I’ve seen her this Spring, she looks like she is focused on making the most of her final grassroots season.
