Continue ReadingMireya Jonhson is a true X-Factor whenever she steps on the floor. She’s a small guard that has a lot of fight in her game. There aren’t many guards in this class that play the way she does on either side of the floor. Her handle is tight and quick which gives her an extra step on defenders every time. She has also proven to be a consistent threat from 3. Defensively is where she truly shines as the primary defender on opposing guards, she’s able to get deflections that lead to easy transition points.
Esssynce Contreraz is the scrappy point guard in this class that will always let her game do the talking for her. She is built with all of the resilience you love to see in the leader of the team. The 4A State Champion is a knockdown shooter on or off the ball with a handle capable of catching defenders off guard. Once Essynce is able to get going offensively the better, she is on defense. She has always been a high-energy defender that takes her assignments seriously but that intensity once she’s able to get a bucket of her own.
Tahlaya Biglow Tahlaya Biglow 5’6″ | PG Doherty | 2024 State CO Is one of those guards that opposing coaches hate to play against, giving her consistent effort on both ends of the floor. Players that will score in bunches from anywhere on the floor and have unlimited range on their jumpers are always hard to gameplan for. These are all things that Tahlaya has in her game but what makes her more dangerous than most is the toughness she plays with. As she comes back from injury next year, I’m sure she will become even more of a threat.
Loren White Loren White 5’6″ | CG Denver East | 2024 State CO came out of nowhere this past season playing an important piece in the rebuilding of the Denver East program. The junior guard appeared in 23 games this season, doubling her total from the previous season. With early injuries in the season, Loren was called up to be the offensive spark off the bench, a role that she excelled in. While her 6.8 points don’t seem like much, she single-handedly was the reason the offense was able to push through during the second half of games and she is able to do more.
