She had a few coast to coast possessions after securing the defensive rebound, actively taking it into the paint or setting up a shooter. Contreraz has brought immense value to one of the state’s most consistent playoff teams within 4A. Elite scoring from along the perimeter, the guard brings deep range off the catch or while stepping into the shot as a trailer. She remains one of the better facilitators in the class, leveraging her shooting gravity to open up driving lanes and set up teammates for success.

Contreraz has continued to refine her game, both facilitating for teammates and knocking down shots along the perimeter. Posting career high in points, rebounds, and assists per game, the pace of play has clearly slowed down for the lead guard. She has been consistent leveraging hesitations and pump fakes to get defenders out of position, attacking downhill for pull-ups or finesse finishes around the rim. She is a pest at the point of attack, getting into position early to deflect the pass, reading the opponents for their next decision. Following a state title, Contreraz looks to continue Holy Family’s incredible run in 4A.

Esssynce Contreraz is the scrappy point guard in this class that will always let her game do the talking for her. She is built with all of the resilience you love to see in the leader of the team. The 4A State Champion is a knockdown shooter on or off the ball with a handle capable of catching defenders off guard. Once Essynce is able to get going offensively the better, she is on defense. She has always been a high-energy defender that takes her assignments seriously but that intensity once she’s able to get a bucket of her own.

Essynce is a really fun player to watch. She is an electric and highly talented guard. An Allen Iverson-type game to her and she can create on her own. Possesses a skilled crossover that is highly effective. A super quick and twitchy athlete that stole the ball 2.6 times per game. 11.0 ppg. and dished out an impressive 5.2 apg. Can make high level of difficulty passes that many can’t make.
