Continue ReadingSerena Heeren Serena Heeren 6’0″ | PF Lincoln Northeast | 2024 State NE will showcase her talents this weekend at the Legacy Classic in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Heeren is a promising talent with a lot to look forward to in her future on the basketball court. She is a player that loves to work near the basket. She is physical, dominate, and smart when attacking her opponents, leading to a lot of success on the offensive end. She has the ability to spread the floor and knock down a jumper as well. She is at her best doing this in catch-and-shoot situations but usually makes it work, no matter the circumstance. When you look at the defensive side of things you see a player who jumps to the ball, communicates well, and knows a lot about the game of basketball from a strategic stand point. I’m excited to see her and her NHE program preform over those three days.
Inia Jones Inia Jones 5’7″ | PG Omaha Central | 2024 State NE is a quick and shifty point guard who possesses a lot of energy whenever she is on the court. She moves well off the ball and grinds on defense. She has a really nice handle with a quick change of pace and direction for when her defender cuts her off. She can score on all three levels of the floor at an efficient rate while welcoming contact whenever possible. A huge part of her game is how intense she is on the defensive side of things. She is a tyrant playing on-ball defense while playing hard denial against her opponent once they give the ball up. Overall, Inia is a player who has a lot of skill and smarts when it comes to the game of basketball. I can’t wait to see the crafty moves she is going to pull out of her bag this weekend.

Izzie Galligan Izzie Galligan 5’9″ | SG Millard North | 2026 State NE is coming off of a freshman year she is sure to remember for quite a while. She averaged 20.5 MPG while helping lead her team deep into the state playoffs. During this season she averaged just under 6 PPG, 2 RPG, and 2 APG. Some nice numbers when you account for being on a rather impressive team, that had a lot of success throughout the season. Gilligan is a composed player. The type of player that always know what the clock is at and the situation her team is in. During these times she does a good job of making sure everyone is in the right spots and ready to roll. She has an impressive shooting stroke as well. She catches with a wide base and has the type of form where once you see it out of her hands, you know it could be good. This weekend I’ll definitely be around to watch Galligan play, along with the rest of her program in the Nebraska Attack .
T’Niyah Wilson-Smith
T’Niyah Wilson-Smith
T’Niyah Wilson-Smith is the truth. Recently I watched her play for the first time on film and she is special. A player with all the physical gifts to be dominant while being extremely skilled at a young age. How skilled you might ask? Last weekend for Nebraska Supreme s 17U National Team she played up. I think that says it all, when we are talking about such a high profile program with an outstanding reputation. I’m hoping this weekend she is playing up again and competing in Council Bluffs. She is a player who is extremely talented with a high motor and a whole lot of smarts. We will just have to wait and see though. If she is there, I’m sure she will amaze.
Jayla Wilson Jayla Wilson 5’8″ | PG Bellevue East | 2025 State NE is a bucket. I can’t wait to see her perform this weekend because man, she has a whole lot of game. A player with a shiftiness you don’t see out of many her age with a patience of a more experienced player on the floor. She has an elite handle with a nasty cross over usually leading to a strong take by herself at the rim or for a pull up jump-shot. If defenses help to much on the drive with her then she just makes the simple pass, usually leading her team to another open look. In transition she is almost impossible to guard 1 on 1. Defenses basically have to just guess and hope they pick the right way to stick with her, if not it’s basically an easy bucket for Wilson. If you go onto Jaylas social media and see her post about her freshman year highlight tape you will see the caption “Up Next”. All I want to say to that is, yes. At this pace with the skill set she has, “Up Next” is a very appropriate caption.
