I’m going to say it now before it’s too late for everyone. If you don’t know, every team better watch out for Lincoln Northeast High School. Lincoln Northeast has started off this season with a perfect 9-0 record and they are dismantling their competition on most nights. With a team that possesses 5 starting Seniors, you can tell that this group has one goal in mind and that is to bring home a State Title. One of their most dominant starters comes in the form of Combo Guard, Serena Heeren Serena Heeren 6'0" | PF Lincoln Northeast | 2024 State NE . Heeren is 5’11 – 6’0 and extremely athletic. Not to mention, that she is also coordinated, disciplined, and smart in her decision making. She knows what she wants to do at all times and usually makes winning plays as a result of that. To have a team with 5 starting Seniors is a clear advantage on the high school floor. Especially when all 5 players could potentially play at the next level, not even including their talented group of underclassman coming off of the bench. Like I said above, if you don’t know about Heeren or this group, you should learn because you’ll be hearing their names a lot more this season.

When I had the chance to watch Serena Heeren Serena Heeren 6'0" | PF Lincoln Northeast | 2024 State NE compete this spring she stood out right away as a player that could play at the next level. As of most recent Heeren has committed to continue her college career at Iowa Western in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Heeren is going to bring her diverse play-making ability to the college floor and I’m sure she is going to flourish. She is the type of competitor that takes everything on the court personally but off of it, is a super kind individual. There aren’t a ton of young athletes out there that can keep this type of emotion separated and when you see it, you know that person is a competitor in whatever they do. That’s the same case here. I’m excited to make it out this winter and see what Heeren can do on the high school floor for her senior season. I’m sure it’s going to be nothing short of astonishing.

Serena Heeren Serena Heeren 6'0" | PF Lincoln Northeast | 2024 State NE is a player that is going to hit her stride this summer. Heeren, a 5’11 small forward, is very good with her all around skill set. She has good length for her size with being coordinated and calculated in her movements. She has a plethora of skill moves on the offensive side of the ball while possessing a patented step-through move, usually ending with a finish by herself at the rim. Defensively she can switch between the 1-5 on the high school floor. She is quick enough to stay on a guard or can move to a post if asked to by her team. This summer is big for Heeren. She will have a chance in high school ball to show that she can be a major piece for her team this winter while also continuing her success on the AAU floor. She has a lot going on but I know she is up for the challenge.

Serena Heeren Serena Heeren 6'0" | PF Lincoln Northeast | 2024 State NE will showcase her talents this weekend at the Legacy Classic in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Heeren is a promising talent with a lot to look forward to in her future on the basketball court. She is a player that loves to work near the basket. She is physical, dominate, and smart when attacking her opponents, leading to a lot of success on the offensive end. She has the ability to spread the floor and knock down a jumper as well. She is at her best doing this in catch-and-shoot situations but usually makes it work, no matter the circumstance. When you look at the defensive side of things you see a player who jumps to the ball, communicates well, and knows a lot about the game of basketball from a strategic stand point. I’m excited to see her and her NHE program preform over those three days.
