LaLa Woods, Wheeling Park, WPA Bruins, PG, 5-7, So. (13 to 6): I really don't think this young lady's game is done growing, yet. Not even close. After a year where she successfully navigated a team dynamic of some big Wheeling names, she's perched on the precipice of a very successful summer. Not only did she keep the ball moving and the offense flowing, she took a big step in becoming a go-to scorer when her team needs her. I reference the state championship game and her feel for the game in the first half. During the first quarter when Morgantown was getting all their shots, she made hers and kept her team close in that game. In the second half, she showed maturity by realizing Bordas had the hot hand and everyone on Park really did a great job of feeding her the ball. She's understanding more and more of the position by the day, and I couldn't help but not give her a nod up in the rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='384095' first='Kynna' last='Britton'], Sissonville, W.Va. Thunder, W, 6-0, So. (18 to 9): After a few weeks away, I feel coming back to it, this year, that Sissonville just got better as [player_tooltip player_id='384095' first='Kynna' last='Britton'] got better. Seriously. Each step up the ladder for Britton, was a step up the ladder for the Indians. To say this isn't to overlook the hard work of the Indians' coaches, or the hard work laid out by past generations. There's always an expectation for what Sissonville girls basketball should be - they should be at the top. And, well, to be quite simple, Britton and company rose to that expectation. How else can you say it. They conquer No. 2 Wayne in a game that could have gone wrong in a heartbeat. They get Philip Barbour in the state semis and drop a tough one. What does Britton do during those two games? She still finds a way to finish on the Class AA All-State team, even when playing against two teams who were defensively capable of stopping her. Owning that kind of confidence in yourself, not alone your team, that's enough to move anyone into the top 10 of the rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='387358' first='Lexi' last='Adams'], Washington, Black Rock Fury, SG, 5-8, So. (29 to 16): [player_tooltip player_id='387358' first='Lexi' last='Adams'] is tough. Baltimore tough. She's “It-is-a-tough-city, it's-always-been-a-tough-city-and-now-its-even-tougher,” according-to-her-father-Larry-tough. And, the Washington girls' basketball player has been this tough for a long time. Listening to her talk makes it clear in the way she handles herself. She did a lot of growing up in a short time. Stopping there though would be a huge disservice to her and her mindset. Digging deeper reveals that the five-letter word suits her better than you may first suspect. You'll learn there might not be a situation she isn't prepared for. Perhaps, the highest compliment I can leave her with is that you can see that "Eye of the Tiger" in her play. She's always confident and comfortable. There's actually no medical situation she hasn't experienced on the court. She really earned this raise up the rankings.
