I was able to catch some games out in Michigan at the LB Insider Showcase via team links, A couple Illinois Valley Warriors games through their facebook page, and as well as a couple more games at the USJN MidWest Qualifier via stream (when working). Below are some players that stuck out!
Sollberger is so natural and poised with the ball in her hands.. she can score from all levels and has some swag to her step as well. Defensively she is just as aggressive. It’s what stood out to me the most. She seems to hunt the best ball defender and stick close, while also being to be active within gaps. Her game can translate at the next level seamlessly.
Easily one of my favorite kids to watch this weekend. Sullivan is a D1 talent, player and all of the above. Every player still needs work, but this kid has the tangibles, the size and skill to score from multiple levels. She can cover the paint well, and be huge piece on the defensive side. High potential.
Highlights
Palmer just seems to get more comfortable on the court as time goes on. She adapts well, she scores within the system or from a breakdown. She can score from mid to the paint, and will also take the long ball if it’s open. Still plays with good tempo and pace
Molly is beyond a mismatch in the paint, but now that she has the confidence to take the 3 ball.. the game seems to be slowing up for her. That type of skill set allows you to pick your battles, and find multiple ways to impact the game.
Thompson’s length allows her to score in a multitude of ways. From the arc to the paint she gets it done. Aggressive on the defensive too, her length allows to guard 1-3, and contest shots from 4/5s. She plays well off the bounce and off the catch.
Highlights
Seems to be just as fast with the ball as she is without it.Erickson can get to the rim, shoot the long ball, or faciliatate the entire game. Crafty with the handle, creative with the finishes and just tough as they come. Lots of aggression on the defensive side as well. This kid is talented!
The size alone, is enough to see that there’s lots of potential. Bell, can definitely be a security blanket on the defensive side, and her finishing around the rim will be smoother as she matures into her frame. Nothing but time.
Cobb just works hard on every possession. She’s secure and responsible with the ball, she doesn’t shy away from the tough defensive assignments, and can still attack the paint to kick it out or get to the line. Lots of heart and absolutely no quit in her game.
Highlights
Hoffmann has it all. She can score from all levels, has some bounce in her step, creative, crafty and can make something out of nothing. Pure release, smooth pull up and is just a problem to deal with. Her aggression is shown on the defensive side of the ball too. So much potential. She’s going to be special over the circuit this summer.
