I scouted the Magic Basketball 2026 15U team’s first game of the tournament a 55-34 victory over MO Legacy 2026.
Here is a look at four players who performed well for the Magic, a team compromised of players from small western Kansas high schools.
Breanne Ricke Breanne Ricke 5'2" | CG Wichita County | 2026 State KS , 5’3”, SG, Wichita County
Ricke plays way taller than her 5’3” frame. She filled up the stat sheet in the first game win. The Wichita County prospect finished with a team-high 17 points while adding three steals and one rebound. She is very aggressive on the offensive end. She shot 6-of-11 from the field. More importantly, she helped the Magic get their big lead and was able to play around early foul trouble.
Jordan McCombs Jordan McCombs 5'6" | CG Lakin | 2026 State KS , 5’6”, PF, Lakin
McCombs was one of my favorite players to watch during the first night of the tournament. The young lady flat-out wants to get a rebound and do the dirty glass work for her team. She finished tied for the team lead in rebounds while adding six points and three steals. She needs to be more aggressive on the offensive end of the court and improve her confidence. She can score, but McCombs has to believe she can score and play a little more selfishly.
Emerson Kirk Emerson Kirk 5'6" | CG Bucklin | 2026 State KS , 5’6”, PG, Bucklin
Kirk had an interesting game. She started shooting 1-of-8 from the field but finished with a team-high 17 points. She has long arms and can drive the ball. The Bucklin product always looks up the court and is a real threat to pass or score in the transition game. She is also a pest on defense as she finished with a total of three steals in the game. She takes good care of the ball and like most good shooters, she did not stop shooting even when the ball was not going in for her.
Shaylee Holzmeister Shaylee Holzmeister 5'8" | CG Colby | 2026 State KS , 5’8” SF, Colby
Holzmeister is one of those quiet assassins on the court. She is not the main offensive option, but she will add points to the effort win the opportunity arises. She finished with five points on a 2-for-3 shooting night. The forward from Colby finished tied with a team-high eight rebounds. She is not afraid to go the glass and will hustle to get long rebounds and loose balls.
