It’s also a time where a group of individuals can come together making memories on the road as they go to battle on the basketball court. Let’s take a look at some of the top athletes in the class of 2024 that are making the most of their last summers playing basketball.
Kailyn Young Kailyn Young 5’9″ | CG Quality Education Academy | 2024 State NC is a threat all over the court getting to the hoop with ease using her post moves in the paint and making some nice adjustments embracing contact along the way. She can handle the ball well attacking the basket from anywhere, and she doesn’t hesitate to step outside and pull up for her jumper. Her height and strength are an asset on defense being able to block the path of her opponents trying to score.
Highlights
Kierra Morrow Kierra Morrow 5’10” | SF Cannon | 2024 State NC is a three level scorer certain to continue showing off that throughout this travel season. She can knock down her shots from deep or make some nice change of speed moves to pull up for her midrange jumper. She is quick using ball fakes to get around her defenders as she drives to the basket finishing on both sides of the rim. She can make some nice post moves, especially off an offensive rebound being ready to put it right back up for some points.
Makayla Noble Makayla Noble 5’11” | SF Salisbury | 2024 State NC is coming off of back to back state championship seasons with Salisbury and is picking right back up where she left off playing at a high level this spring. Her size certainly draws you to watching her, but she can do everything on the court that her team needs. She is sure to knock down shots from around the arc, and she can drive to the basket scoring through contact. She sees the floor well defensively, too, knowing when to jump in front of passing lanes grabbing steals to take the other direction.
Devin Long Devin Long 5’8″ | CG United Faith | 2025 State NC is tough on both ends of the court being able to drive aggressively on the offensive side and strip the ball from her opponents on the defensive side. She uses her strength to get inside for some rebounds, and she uses her crossovers to make her defender lose their footing as she pushes the tempo. Her vision is great finding the lanes to fill in herself or finding her flashing teammate to get them the ball and bucket.
Reese Fritz Reese Fritz 5’8″ | SG 1 Of 1 Prep | 2024 State NC will be carrying her hot shooting into this summer as she has already done this spring. She does a nice job creating space as she moves without the ball and stays ready to catch and shoot from deep. She moves well with the ball finding ways to make sharp passes to her teammates or fill in an open lane attacking the basket. On defense, she shows off her IQ being able to slide into passing lanes grabbing the steal to push the other direction.
