There will be kids who’ll end up playing at every level in college, and I’d like to highlight a few of them before they tip off on Friday night in the Fox Valley. I’ll start with the 17u teams.
Ella Hischke Ella Hischke 5'10" | PF Bonduel | 2024 State WI
Interest from WIAC schools has already materialized into offers for Hischke, and it’s easy to understand why coaches like her. One thing that will always intrigue coaches in the WIAC is versatility, shooting, and defense, and Hischke checks all of those boxes. She can play with or without the ball, defend two through four, and shoot it from anywhere on the floor.
Sipla is one of my favorite kids in the 2024 class from down in Illinois. The St. Charles North product is a 6-1 wing with unbelievable range, and she knows how to use it. Sipla can spot up and shoot from anywhere because few people can contest her shot without leaving their feet, and when they do, she’s more than capable of attacking off the dribble. She has plenty of interest from scholarship-level programs, but I assume she’ll garner more through the summer.
The Monona Grove product caught the eye of WIAC programs early this summer, and it’s because of her versatility, strength, and defensive ability. Her offensive game is solid, but in my opinion, everything else makes her an appealing prospect. She’s a physical and athletic wing who can defend one through four and plays extremely hard whenever she’s on the floor. You never have to worry about her work ethic or how much love she has for the game, which is crucial, especially at the D3 level. I have no doubt she’ll contribute to winning at the college level.
Naomi Kaskavitch Naomi Kaskavitch 5'6" | PG Hortonville | 2024 WI
Although the Hortonville guard hasn’t seen big minutes yet, it’s through no fault of her own. The athletic talent that’s gone through that program has been absurd, but Kaskavitch would be a kid that would play on 99% of programs in the rest of the state because of how well she shoots the ball. With time and space, any perimeter jumpers she gets are essentially a layup. If you’re looking to get some kids to space the floor, and are looking around for kids without many eyes on them, look at Kaskavitch.
