PARKERSBURG - The 2025 class in the Mountain State may just be the deepest class in the state. Yes, at this very moment. Going at least 20 players deep in terms of players who show significant signs of being ready for some level of the college game, there's just a level of competitive fire that distinguishes this class from the other groups. Perhaps, it is just that I have watched these kids play more than any other group, or perhaps they really are the best group in the state. Either way, they arguably have more players for coaches to keep an eye on. Having said that, here's a look at the Top 10 after the spring rankings were published:

[player_tooltip player_id='379527' first='Zaniah' last='Zellous'], George Washington, PF, 6-2, So. - There's one thing setting this young lady apart from her peers: Her athleticism. Truthfully, her talent and pure skill stand out more than anything about her game when seeing her on the court. Wherever you look, she's making big things happen on the court because of the gifts she's been given. When she has the chance to run the floor, she outraces the entire court thanks to her lengthy strides and ability to handle the ball in transition. When she's on the block, she gets the shot she wants because she understands how to maneuver around her opponent or get them exactly where she wants them to be in order for her to get a great shot. There should be little surprise that she's adding more and more offers to her bag even early on in the spring. She just gets the game and knows how to play well on the block.

[player_tooltip player_id='342221' first='Alexis' last='Bordas'], Wheeling Park, SG, 5-8, So. - I got to see Bordas play a lot this past year, I even wrote a column on her for another site. Let me tell you, coaches. This young lady is on her way to becoming a valuable shooter. One capable of generating big points in crunch time. Is she a little small for D-I, maybe. But, when she is shooting, scoring and dominating a game, the entire floor opens up for her team on the offensive end. As soon as she walks in the gym, she's in range and she isn't afraid to show it. Of course, her shooting is just the start of her upside, her defense continues to develop alongside her in-game situational awareness, which her feel is among the best in the state, she just understands when to attack and when to back off and find her hot-handed teammate. She's going to be a great addition to whichever college team's roster she ends up joining.

[player_tooltip player_id='388086' first='Haylen' last='Cook'], Linsly, PG, 5-4 , So. - I honestly didn't get to see enough of Cook this past season. However, I do know the young lady didn't let this season go to waste. The biggest thing I saw from Cook when I did see her that her offensive game continued to evolve and improve. More than one time this year, she whipped something out I didn't know she had. She put on display several different ways to score and several upgraded ways to score. First, her ability to attack the basketball and drive the lane improved greatly over her freshman season. When she decided to drive down the lane against say Barnesville, she showed no hesitation or fear when finishing at the rim. She really attacked the hoop with what seemed like a "I-will-do-what-I-have-to-do-to-score" attitude. Secondly, she's added an accurate step back 3 to her arsenal. Thirdly, she's really found comfort battling for rebounds and going back up for the score. Putting this altogether makes Cook an even more complete player at this point in time than where she was last year.

[player_tooltip player_id='384008' first='Kilah' last='Dandridge'], Spring Mills, SG , 5-8, So. - Not only did [player_tooltip player_id='384008' first='Kilah' last='Dandridge'] come out fired up at the beginning of the season, but she kept building and building and improved all year long, and when the time came, she led on the court. Maybe there weren't enough shots for everyone on the Cardinals every night, but just look at what she did with the ones she had. It was plenty of damage for her team. Everyone else just had to score 15 to 10 points and the Cardinals won as a team. On the year, Dandridge tallied 15.2 points, on 58% shooting, to go along with 4.9 boards, 5.5 rebounds, and one block per game – this includes a 25-point effort against Wheeling Park in a state semifinal.

[player_tooltip player_id='379522' first='Brooke' last='Adkins'], Wayne, PG, 6-0, So. - Look up the definition of competitor in the dictionary and you will see a picture of [player_tooltip player_id='379522' first='Brooke' last='Adkins'] holding another dictionary featuring a picture of [player_tooltip player_id='379522' first='Brooke' last='Adkins'] . Seriously. No matter the score, no matter the environment, no matter the moment, Adkins is always coming to play. Her smile turns into a snarl. Her defense frustrates plenty of guards. She simply takes everything to the next level when when she's out on the court with the Pioneers. Just look at those averages! 16 points, 7.5 boards, 3.9 assists and 3.5 steals ain't nothing to shake a leg at! Competitor indeed!

Ashlyne (LaLa) Woods, Wheeling Park, PG, 5-6, So. - I really don't think this young lady's game is done growing, yet. Not even close. After a year where she successfully navigated a team dynamic of some big Wheeling names, she's perched on the precipice of a very successful summer. Not only did she keep the ball moving and the offense flowing, she took a big step in becoming a go-to scorer when her team needs her. I reference the state championship game and her feel for the game in the first half. During the first quarter when Morgantown was getting all their shots, she made hers and kept her team close in that game. In the second half, she showed maturity by realizing Bordas had the hot hand and everyone on Park really did a great job of feeding her the ball. She's understanding more and more of the position by the day, and I couldn't help but not give her a nod up in the rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='384101' first='Allie' last='Daniels'], Spring Valley, PF, 6-1, So. - Daniels continues to be a strong rebounding force in the paint. period. Even when an opponent boxes her out, she still finds ways to make things happen. Not to mention, she still finds ways to get her hands on the ball. Heck, it is likely her average for her Spring Valley career sits in the double digits now. Or, she should be as close as close can be. However, the best way to watch her rebound and see her entire game is on the AAU circuit. She is the very definition of someone who raises her game as the level of competition goes up. Not only does she rebound, but she handles the ball, shoots the three, and it very active on the block around the basket. Oh, and she doesn't just grab rebounds, but she's freed up from being the main attack on the court and can be herself and play her game without constantly being harassed. She just hates to lose and you can see it on the circuit. She really is someone from a W.Va. team who will make a college coach very happy of her commitment to their team.

[player_tooltip player_id='379526' first='Addie' last='Adkins'], Wayne, PF, 6-0, So. - [player_tooltip player_id='379526' first='Addie' last='Adkins'] brings a different kind of advantage to a team when she's on the court. Sure, her 6-foot frame helps her get things done, but when she is on from the 3-point line and really causing havoc with sister Brooke, then ... well ... good night. Games can quickly get out of hand as Adkins starts hoisting the 3 and teams have limited ways to respond. She can hit two or three in quick suggestion and really put a team on their heels in a matter of seconds. Several times this past season, the young lady did just that in contests against the Scott Skyhawks and Winfield Generals. And she arguably did it against the Sissonville Indians in a state semifinal when she arguably hit what would have been the biggest shot of the season if the Pioneers continued on and won a state title. Early on in the year, she crushed the hoops of the Skyhawks with five 3s. Later, she blitzed the Generals with seven 3s. Then with time winding down against the Indians, she threw a haymaker that most teams don't recover from in real game-time. She canned a huge emotional 3 that felt like it switched the momentum of the game. However, the Indians responded in the end, but the fact that they needed to in the first place speaks to Addie's clutch play in big moments. Combine her shooting with her frame and overall athletic ability, and you get someone who's developing into someone who can make an impact on the hardwood. Assuming of course, that she continues with basketball. That's not a guarantee with the way she stands out in volleyball. Nevertheless, coaches looking to add a little chaos to their group should definitely keep an eye on Adkins. She definitely brings her own unique brand of chaos that isn't easy to slow down once she gets started.

[player_tooltip player_id='384095' first='Kynna' last='Britton'], Sissonville, W, 6-0, So. - After a few weeks away, I feel coming back to the Sissonville Indians, that Sissonville just got better as [player_tooltip player_id='384095' first='Kynna' last='Britton'] got better this season. Seriously. Each step up the ladder for Britton, was a step up the ladder for the Indians. To say this isn't to overlook the hard work of the Indians' coaches, or the hard work laid out by past generations. There's always an expectation for what Sissonville girls basketball should be – they should be at the top. And, well, to be quite simple, Britton and company rose to that expectation. How else can you say it. They conquer No. 2 Wayne in a game that could have gone wrong in a heartbeat. They get Philip Barbour in the state semis and drop a tough one. What does Britton do during those two games? She still finds a way to finish on the Class AA All-State team, even when playing against two teams who were defensively capable of stopping her. Owning that kind of confidence in yourself, not alone your team, that's enough to move anyone into the top 10 of the rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='342234' first='Olivia' last='Bolduc'], Spring Mills, PG, 5-4, So. - There shouldn't really be any surprise that Bolduc burst into the Top 10 in the latest rankings. None whatsoever if I am being completely honest. After a season where she piloted the Spring Mills Cardinals' offense machine to near perfection, she deserves her spot. Haters go away. Her ascendency has probably been long overdue. I have said it several times and will say it again about Liv, she does a great job adjusting to the personnel on the floor. Every game and no matter what teammates are on the floor. Coaches and everyone need only fire up the NFHS network to watch her brilliance. There are plenty of games. Take for instance the state tournament quarterfinal against Cabell Midland and state semifinal against Wheeling Park, she really gave her group a chance by making some excellent decisions with the basketball. She got her teammates open off the dribble, driving to the hoop, slashing and faking a shot attempt, and just about any other way she needed to make it happen. Coaches, I strongly recommend keeping on eye on Bolduc for point guard. She has the mentality and intelligence to be an asset at the college level.
