Continue ReadingIt was a hectic weekend watching Minnesota’s best go head-to-head in search of titles at the AAU State Tournament. It has been just as busy in the aftermath assembling All-Tournament Teams and making sure that as many of the top performers as possible received the recognition they deserve. In this, our final installment recapping the State Tournament, we bring you the best from the U14 Division representing the top 2027 prospects in the state. Minnesota Fury Blue captured the title in a 47-43 win over Minnesota Stars 3SSB Antl. It was North Tartan Nike taking home third-place honors while Legacy Hoops 2027 Elite continued its long run of success with a final four finish. Players chosen for the All-Tournament Team were selected based on the age group they competed in and are exclusively from the Division 1 bracket.
FIRST TEAM
Amisha Ramlall Amisha Ramlall 5'11" | CG Rosemount | 2027 State MN & Olivia LaBlanc – If you read our recap of the U14 championship game then it will come as no surprise to learn that Amisha and Olivia of Fury 2027 Blue shared our co-MVP honors in the championship game. Ramlall’s second-half three-point outburst was a thing of beauty. LaBlanc’s start-to-finish excellence was the impetus behind the Fury’s success all weekend. Amisha, who hails from Rosemount. scored 54 points in the tournament and made a dozen three-pointers, half of them in the championship game. LaBlanc, who is from Hudson, Wisc., had 45 points. Both players are well-rounded, versatile, highly-skilled leaders who showed all of that and more at State.
Kaja Nash Kaja Nash 5'9" | PG Southwest Christian | 2027 State MN & Kaelyn Bjorklund Kaelyn Bjorklund 6'1" | PF Lakeville South | 2027 State MN – The championship game between the Fury and Stars was a battle that came right down to the wire. No matter how many shots Ramlall and LaBlanc made, Nash and Bjorklund did their utmost to counter. Kaja is an athletic guard who makes one hustle play after another. The Maranatha Christian freshman-to-be was forcing turnovers, creating opportunities for her teammates and scoring herself. She had 14 points in the championship game. Meanwhile Kaelyn was using her size, strength and skill to make life difficult inside for opponents at both ends of the court. The Lakeville South forward moves really well for her size and plays with a ton of energy. She averaged over 10 points per game.
Emma Millerbernd Emma Millerbernd 5'9" | CG Providence Academy | 2027 State MN – Emma is no stranger to the big stage. She has already won a pair of state high school championships with Providence Academy before entering high school and this winter captured honors as Prep Girls Hoops Defensive Player of the Year. Emma is a force of nature, an athletic guard whose playmaking ability, defensive prowess and leadership abilities chart the course for North Tartan’s top 2027 team. She scored 37 points in the tournament and led her group to a third-place finish.
SECOND TEAM
Alivia Bell Alivia Bell 5'7" | PG Winona | 2027 State MN – Just entering the 9th grade at Winona High School, Alivia is already a varsity veteran who can be counted upon to score, distribute, defend and lead. The Legacy Hoops Elite guard is a highly skilled floor general with great handles who is terrific one-on-one and can definitely shoot it from distance.
Pressley Watkins Pressley Watkins 6'0" | CG Benilde-St. Margaret's | 2027 State MN – Bell and Watkins are the go-to girls for coach Demondi Johnson’s Legacy Hoops team. Watkins is tall, long and athletic with a well-developed skillset and the type of physical maturity that is rare for an 8th grader. She averaged 9 ppg in the tournament as her team made it to the final four.
Analaya Salanoa Analaya Salanoa 5'6" | SG Roseville | 2027 State MN – There are some great shooters in the Class of 2027 and the Stars 3SSB Antl guard is one of the very best. Give her a little space and a tiny bit of time and she’s going to launch it quick and high and more often than not it’s on the money. The Roseville 8th grader averaged 13 ppg.
Kate Arnold Kate Arnold 5'9" | CG Chanhassen | 2027 State MN – The North Tartan Nike guard from Chanhassen is super long, very lean and highly skilled. Her ability to both set the table for her teammates and score clutch baskets on her own accord is equally good. She is athletic, moves very well, has a deep bag of tricks and loves to compete.
Delaney Dumermuth Delaney Dumermuth 5'10" | SF Mahtomedi | 2027 State MN – Fury 2027 Blue has plenty of talent but not a whole lot of size. That makes the 5’10 prospect from Mahtomedi a highly valuable asset for coach Sam Ebenreiter. Delaney is not flashy but she is deceptively quick, highly intelligent and extremely competitive. And she can put the ball in the basket.
