Some of these girls, simply, just need more attention! These 6 girls stood out to me very much at the ihoopcrazy Elite 40 showcase. Read more below.
Genesis Castro | 2028 | PG | Rhode Island
She is New Englands next best thing. Genesis was ranked as age #1 player at the showcase. When I seen her at the ihoopcrazy Elite 40 showcase, I got to see one of the best players in the region. Given she is class of 2028 what she was doing were impressive. She has a hezi-drop, pull-up 3 that doesn’t ever get contested as she knows how to use it. Her handles are tight and well put together, she got her defender on her hip easily, it was as if she was wide open all showcase. She shoots the ball well off the dribble. She went 5-7 for 3 point line in our head-to-head play. Her fast break pull up game is string. She was very nimble and light on her feet with the ball. She got to the lane extremely easy, taking her defender both ways. It all came easy to her as she didn’t force a thing. She’s special.
Kiera Paradis | 2028 | PG | New Hampshire
I am glad Kiera came to my ihoopcrazy Elite 40 showcase because I was pleased by her game. She is absolutely one of the best middle school guards in NEW ENGLAND. She competed at a high and competitive level and came to play. Considering she’s class of 2028 – it scares me thinking about how good she can become by freshman year. She is a small guard about 5’6″ with a strong handle with a 3 dimensional game. She can shoot, create for her team and defend! One thing she does that stood out to me is, she spoke! She’s loud and communicates with her teammates. Most players are not vocal! She is. She is an elite shooter. If you leave her open, she will drain her shots. She is automatic from the corners and won’t touch the rim from the wings. Her competitive nature is amazing and very visible. Her personality is great. She’s a kid who will blow up with good promotion!
Maddy Cotter | 2027 | Guard | Massachusetts
Maddy Cotter was a player I needed to see play in person at my ihoopcrazy elite 40 showcase as I heard great things about her. She was a player I’ve known to play for the Bay State Jaguars national 2027 team but seeing her play with different girls seems it sparked something in her. She was vocal, confident and bright. She showed a good combination of skills as she took her defender to the hoop a few times, drained a few shots and set her teammates up with great looks. She was the leader on her team and you could see it. She was vocal and in control of the offense and her team did well as a result of that. My opinion on her is that she is much better than what she’s given credit for. Once she is able to build her confidence her game elevates to an entire new level.
Hannah Murphy Hannah Murphy 5'4" | PG Carlton Middle | 2027 New E | 2027 | Point Guard | Massachusetts
If you’re looking for a flashy player who’s going to shoot the ball from 40ft – you’re not going to find that in her. She’s is well disciplined and put together. She is a textbook player who can shoot the ball exceptionally and creatively. She looks for the mid range jump shot and can knock it down in rhythm. She drives to the hoop and penetrated the lane easily. Hannah is a player who is playing extremely under her potential. She’s versatile amongst the guard positions. She can play the one as a floor general and lead the team as well as play the wing. She was extremely coachable all showcase.
Ava Ayotte Ava Ayotte 5'5" | PG Mount St. Charles Academy | 2027 New E | 2027 | Combo Guard | Rhode Island
At the ihoopcrazy Elite 40 showcase Ava Ayotte Ava Ayotte 5'5" | PG Mount St. Charles Academy | 2027 New E proved she is a player to look at. She easily stood out and proved she’s a player that wants to play at the next level! She drives to the hoop with purpose and fiercely. Ava plays hard every second of the game and brings the action. At the ihoopcrazy Elite 40 showcase she put on a display shooting the 3, shooting the mid-range and keeping the intensity high. What stood out to me was how she approached the game. She approached the game as if she was the only one the court and that separated her from the others. She used her body well for a guard, bodying her defender as a tactic to create offensive opportunities.
Brooklyn McCormick | 2030 | Point Guard | Connecticut
When Brooklyn McCormick walked into the ihoopcrazy elite 40 showcase she looked out of place because of her size. But once it was time to lace up you could see she is a pure hooper from all aspects of the game. Her handles were amazing and well put together. She handled pressure well and created opportunities easily. She didn’t let her size affect her at all! she shot the ball with confidence. She posses a tight handle that is hard to compete with. She did a good job at creating space and attacking the open space. I would have loved to see her shoot the 3 ball a little more and be more aggressive. Her defense was good considering her size. She did well recovering and cutting her defender off when her opponent did catch her. she’s super young and already doing some things high schoolers aren’t doing. She definitely has a bright future
