That said, I have some time to go through and highlight some kids that I enjoyed watching over the past two days in the Champions Center. I’ll have more to come during the week.
Going back to the first time I ever saw Wizcek play, she got kneed in the head late in the game but came back and closed the game with free throws. The second time I saw her, she got hit in the face, and her nose bled quite a bit and played a few possessions losing blood, then came back and ended the game making free throws. These past few days, she got elbowed in the eye, returned today with a shiner, and closed out a game with free throws. She’ll do anything possible to be on the floor, and her passion for playing translates to winning.
Megan Geason Megan Geason 5'11" | SF Oak Creek | 2025 State WI
Every time I watch Geason, I’m amazed by how well she finishes around the rim while going a million miles per hour and that she can get to the basket whenever she wants. The 2025 wing from Oak Creek is one of the more impressive kids I’ve seen through the AAU season and will probably attract attention through the summer because of her skill and athleticism.
Audrey Norville Audrey Norville 5'10" | SF St. Mary Catholic | 2024 State WI
Today was the first time I’d seen Norville playing with Blaze’s Inferno team. She was outstanding. The 5-10 wing scored at all three levels, and Norville took whatever the defense gave her and took a mile. She’s an excellent athlete and utilized that to attack from the perimeter and get to the rim a few times. Norville looked much more in her setting this summer than last summer and looked like a much better player. She didn’t force anything, was in control at all times, stayed within herself, and took advantage of every one of her opponent’s mistakes.
I loved how smoothly Pape fits into her role. The 5-9 wing can shoot the ball at a high level, and she doesn’t need the ball to help her team. Pape moves away from the ball, stays engaged on the defensive end, and will make defenses pay whenever the wing finds time and space. Pape is as plug-and-play as it gets, and she’ll figure out ways to help her team succeed, and that seems like it can take many forms. Pape can win games with her shooting, her defense, or by making heady plays when her team needs a stop. Without seeing her before today, I’d bet she’s always on the floor with under five minutes to go in a close game.
