Continue ReadingHeads turned Sunday afternoon as Marina Sippola Marina Sippola 5’9″ | CG North Paulding | 2024 State GA scorched the nets in an all-time performance. Sippola netted seven threes in the first half without missing and ended up with nine long balls in NME’s tough 54-47 loss to Wood Elite. Marina finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. She loved to stop and pop in transition and used a rhythm dribble to side step and get comfortable before launching. Marina really liked to take a quick dribble to her left and sometimes even when she looked a bit off balance, Sippola was in complete control and honed in on the rim with a quick trigger.
Highlights
The rising sophomore brought energy and scoring punch in Nite Nite’s 53-44 win over Porter Sports. Up two at the half, Deyla scored 11 of her 13 points after intermission. She sank a pair of threes and used a floater when getting to the hoop. Deyla is a good athlete with quality length for her size.
Rayven Tyler
Rayven Tyler
Tyler let it fly in the 8 AM game, nailing five threes en route to 18 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 1 block. At 5-foot-3, Rayven is a strongly built guard that can outmuscle most. She gets good rotation on her shot and is a threat to pull-up off the dribble. As the game wore on, Tyler made plays downhill as a passer, showcasing impressive court vision.
Kaylee brings a spark to the floor with her motor. She does a little bit of everything while serving as point guard. Improving her left hand will help open up the entire floor, but Cortez thrived when getting to her right. She hit pull-up jumpers and tossed in a floater. Kaylee liked to stretch the floor with her perimeter shot. She had a nose for the ball as a rebounder and supplied pesky defense. She recorded 11 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 1 block in a 47-37 win.
Megan Schultz
Megan Schultz
Schultz caught my eye. She has some subtle wiggle to her game, able to slip past defenders with a tight handle and can snap off eurosteps in traffic. Megan finishes well at the rim.
Mullins took over in the second half to lead Wood Elite past NME. Caroline finished with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 block, scoring 11 points after halftime. Staying aggressive is important for Mullins. She is highly skilled with the ball, able to provide offense as both a scorer and facilitator. She is patient when she gets into the paint as she utilizes ball fakes and pivots until finding an opening. Caroline as at her best when she’s attacking downhill. She finishes well through contact and uses that same physicality to rebound and defend larger players.
I’ziah doesn’t need to take many shots to still have her fingerprints all over a game. The true point guard compiled 2 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 1 steal in Wood Elite’s 54-47 win. McCutchins has a knack for finding open shooters and is calm against on-ball pressure.
Highlights
I liked what I saw out of Kennedy Blevins Kennedy Blevins 5’6″ | SG St. Stephens | 2025 NC . She is a sneaky good guard with a mature feel for the game. Kennedy is capable of scoring from all three levels. She draws fouls when getting to the hoop and is a solid outside shooter. Blevins tallied 15 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block in a loss.
Jada Deadwyler
Jada Deadwyler
Jada handles the ball very well. She’s a strong compact guard that can turn corners on defenders and attack downhill. Jada sees the floor well in transition. She is a threat to shoot the three off the bounce. Deadwyler has quick hands on defense. She totaled 6 points, 3 assists and 4 steals vs. Team Hickory.
Leilani Leilani GA Ward
Leilani Leilani GA Ward
There is reason to be excited about Ward’s future. Leilani Leilani GA is a tough-nosed playmaker. Though she is a bit undersized, Ward plays with strength and balance. She breaks down defenses and draws fouls at the rim. Ward does a little bit of everything. Part of the Locust Grove rebuild, Ward averaged 11.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 4.3 steals. On Sunday, she picked up 14 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal while shooting 7-10 from the line.
