Some games came down to the wire with big time players stepping up to ice the game and it was a day the hidden gems came to the light. Here are the players that did all the little things for their teams to be successful.
Swint is a player a coach would love to have on their team. An energizer bunny that doesn’t mind diving on the floor for the loose ball or chasing down a play. A player that can do it all and plays her role to the fullest. She impressed on the day with her ability to rebound and put back through contact. She created extra possessions on the offensive end and her ability to rebound on defense led to easy transition buckets. Strong combo player that has the ability to score inside/out. Exciting player to watch.
Simmons is a player you must guard as soon as she steps on the floor. High IQ combo player that knows how to score at any given moment. Her quick release catches her opponents off guard, and she knows how to consistently knock down the 3. She also showed her ability to attack the rim off the dribble. She creates matchup problems with her size as she can score over the smaller guards and is too quick for most post players. High IQ which allows her to read the defense. A college ready player that will have numerous offers by the end of the summer.
Scott is probably one of the quickest players in the tournament with the ball in her hands. Her ability to get to the rim and push in transition is her biggest assets. A player that sees the floor well and only needs a little space to score at the rim. Her quick hands-on defense and her ability to guard 94ft creates easy transition opportunities. High IQ guard that brings the energy on both ends of the floor.
Highlights
VanDyke has some great footwork for a post player. Her ability to move without the ball and her use of her body to score through contact is her bread and butter. A strong post presence that dominates the game inside out. Great court vision allows her to see the floor well from the block and knows how to kick out of the double team to her shooters. Her soft touch around the rim allows her to score easy baskets at the rim. Always posting strong and maintaining her post position.
Highlights
Chloe Nicholson
Chloe Nicholson
Nicholson was the quiet sleeper on the day. A player that knows how to be in the right place at the right time. A player that gets a lot of her points off offensive rebounds and 50/50 balls. Always working to secure the extra possessions and knows how to use her body to score through contact. A player that will be on a bunch of coaches and scouts list by summer end. Exciting player to watch on both ends of the floor.
Saniah Dorsey
Saniah Dorsey
Dorsey is a playmaker with some of the quickest hands. She lets her defense fuel her offense but also has the ability to create her own shot and get downhill quickly off the dribble. Always running the floor hard and looking for easy transition opportunities for herself and her teammates. A player that does not seem to ever get tired. Her teammates feed off her energy and her ability to press up on defense. High motor guard.
