Journey Taylor-5’8 G (Lady Sharks 2024) Braswell [2024]
Taylor’s JOURNEY, see what I did, has been a joy to watch as I think back to one of my first Tip Sheets on her. Her poise under pressure was always there, as well as her wanting and delivering in the clutch but her court vision as well as controlling the tempo have taken off, and so has her jumper which she creates and knocks down, mid to long-range
Chania Price-6’0 G/F (True Texas Hoops 17U National) Brewer [2024]
Price is “long and athletic” and “the PRICE continues to be right” as her intangibles separate her from others in that “:7A” group I love to profile. At times, she can play all 5 positions yet watching her elevate on her jumper, you ain’t gonna block it, mid to long-range creates problems for defenders. She can also handle the ball and go coast to coast after rebounding, which she does on both ends, and her attacking the basket in the set. Her defense, in and outside the paint, along with her timing gives her a variety of things she brings to the table
Trinidi King-5’8 G (Athletic Elite Basketball 2024) Royce City [2024]
King was on another team earlier this season, the coach got a head coaching job in college yet she showed me even more than I saw initially. One play she did gets the #THROWBACK hashtag: “she follows her shot” yet she really didn’t have to because, on opening day, she was easily dropping the mid to long-range. her body control stood out as she took the defender strongly to the basket and her finishing after contact was also nice
Dadreanna Frost Dadreanna Frost 5'7" | PG Westmoore | 2025 State OK -5’7 G (Oklahoma Royal Legacy 2024) Westmoore [2025]
Frost was clutch down the stretch on Sunday and although I didn’t catch much of her squad on Saturday, I made up for it. Her “on the ball” defense baseline to baseline created turnovers, well so did her quick hands and she saw the floor both in the open court as well as in the set. Her first step create problems as she blew by defenders to attack the basket yet it also helped her in transition and the stop and pop was” poppin”
Aaliyah Scott Aaliyah Scott 5'6" | PG Lewisville | 2024 State TX -5’7 CG (Team Stay Ready 2024) Lewisville [2024]
Scott was been one of the steadiest point guards I’ve seen on the PGH Circuit the past two seasons because she plays within herself, understands how to run her team, and can get hers “in the flow”. Her ballhandling and court-vison always stand out, her deceptive first step coupled with her body control gets her baskets yet her midrange has also been solid. Over the weekend, she added even more as she dropped the long ball numerous times
Honorable Mention
Lily Cunnigham-5’9 G (West Texas Shockers 2024) Throckmorton [2024]
Taylor Branson Taylor Branson 5'3" | PG Lipan | 2024 State TX -5’3 PG (TX Platinum 2025 S40 Dollar) Lipan [2025]
Landrie Polk Landrie Polk 5'6" | PG Weatherford | 2025 State TX -5’6 CG (TX Platinum 2025 S40 Dollar) Weatherford [2025]
Caleah Kennedy-6’3 F (Lady Sharks 2024) Macarthur [2025]
Julie Kasonga Julie Kasonga 6'1" | PF Brewer | 2025 State TX -6’0 SF (True Texas Hoops 17U National) Brewer [2025]
