However, today I want to focus on some of the kids in the 2025 class who I haven’t said much about and deserve some shine for what they’ve been able to do these last few months.
Makena Christian Makena Christian 6'0" | PF Hartford | 2025 State WI
What stands out most about Christian’s game is how easily she gets into what she wants to do on the offensive end. Her strength makes her stand out at her age level and even when she plays up with Wisconsin Lakers. She doesn’t get pushed around but still has the agility to switch, if needed, on the perimeter and to beat a defender off the dribble if she gets a chance to attack a mismatch.
JJ Glass-Barnes JJ Glass-Barnes 5'8" | CG The Prairie School | 2025 State WI
Of all the Wisconsin kids, Glass-Barnes’ physical traits are the best in the state. Watching her physically dominate girls two years older and taller is routine in her games. I’ve watched her attack future Division 1 forwards who are 6-0 and still get the best of them physically. None of that even includes how much better she’s got skill-wise. Her shooting touch has improved, the way she initiates offense has gotten smoother, and if you told me she would end up as the best college player to come out of Wisconsin in the 2025 class, I wouldn’t be shocked. She has that much room to grow.
From the few times I’ve seen Trotter this summer, she’s become a kid who spends most of her time in the painted area. She’ll always be able to step out and make something happen, but showing what she’s capable of on the interior has been positive. Trotter is willing to battle in the trenches for position, and in turn, she’s shown how effective she is at rebounding in her area, which will translate. She’s a well-rounded athlete, and she did earn her first scholarship offer from Gardner-Webb recently, and it likely won’t be the last.
Sophie Trimble Sophie Trimble 5'10" | SF Menomonee Falls | 2025 State WI
Before I highlight the skill, I want to discuss Trimble’s motor. Some kids play hard and do all the extra things to help their team gain an advantage, but nobody has done it like Trimble this summer, in my opinion. Trimble plays at 110% when she’s on the floor, but she does it with more physicality than any other kid. Whenever Trimble decides she’s going to the basket, the defender, or defenders, will feel it. Due to her strength, Trimble also does an excellent job finishing in traffic and has a soft touch around the rim. I also loved how much effort she puts defensively, and she’s one of the more laterally quick kids around, and she could be one of the best defenders in her class in our state.
