With Spring ball wrapping up and summer leagues starting, I was able to see a lot of new players with huge potential to be a key addition to a college program. With offers being a huge stamp on that potential.. below are some stock risers in the Top 20!
Ezike has a strong argument for having the best spring season in this class. With a huge amount of her offers being secured over the past couple of months, colleges are noticing the size and speed that she possesses. Defensively she covers the entire court. She has the ability to guard 3-5, and she can chase down the guards. Offensively, the skill work with the ball will grow as her position changes, but the pressure she puts on the defense in the open court and in the paint can’t be overlooked.
Highlights
Cracking the top 10, Powers has continuously showed that she is a true 4/5. The hands are like glue, her awareness under the basket is on point, and her patience and IQ are strong. She knows how to use her body when finishing around the rim, she knows when to pop or roll.. and defensively she’s just as active. Communication is big when it comes to post players, and Powers never has to be told to do that. High potential.
Reed has seem to break out of her shell this past spring, and the off the court work is showing. Three level scorer, and the ability to facilitate without many mistakes. She can score in an isolation situation, within an offense or with time running down. She has good size which allows her to deal with contact and the court vision to make another play if the first option is shut down. Reed will be a player to keep an eye on when July ball kicks off.
Highlights
Strong spring season for Campanelli. The skills are starting to match up with her uber athleticism, and it has become a scary assignment for defenders and a headache for the offense. Anna has the length, the creativity and the motor to be just as impactful in off the ball situations, as she is when she’s creating the offense. She can score from the outside and the mid, and her ball handling skills/speed allow her to be a threat when attacking the rim. The D1 offers have been rollign in, and I don’t see them stopping anytime soon. Strong potential.
I’m not a big stat person.. but I would love to see an entire stat break down on Leydens impact on the outcome of a game. Her +/- has to be in the positives in most of them. From second chance points, assists, rebounds, steals, deflections.. you name it Leyden does it. The energy she puts out on every possession wether she touches the ball or not is refreshing to watch. There’s something to say about a player who doesn’t need to be asked to give full effort. Hell of a talent and high potential.
